Recommended Posts

Well im going for my 2nd tandem jump next Saturday and i cant wait ive been waiting for this for a couple of months now. This time i am doing the sunset jump so that should be awsome. So can anyone tell me if your more at ease the second time around? I was kinda scared on my first jump when i got to the door knowing that im getting ready to bail out of an airplane at 11,000 feet, but it was great i loved it.

First off, congrats on getting ready for your second skydive.

That depends on each person. For me I was more scared the second time around cause I knew what to expect. I also knew more about the things that could go wrong. The first time I was "fat, dumb, and happy."

I was more scared the second time because I knew I would actually do it. The first time I didn't think I was really going to jump until that first hop 'n popper jumped out. THEN I started to get really scared. Up till then it was all just a joke.

Second time around, I was scared on the way down to the dz but the ride up to altitude was actually fine. Once I jumped I started to zone out and then decided to be really present and just have fun and that's exactly what happened. I could hear everything, see everything and was just soooo much more aware of everything than I had been the first time around. Enjoy it! :)

Yeah i was told it is more scary the second time around because of all them reasons but i thought i would ask people who have actually done it instead of hearing from someone that hasn,t done it and only heard it through someone else.

First lesson, never, never, never, listen to other people that are not your instructor;)

I just finished my 2nd tandem jump, and going for my 3rd (and hopefully last) this weekend. For me, I felt a lot better after the 2nd jump than I did after the 1st. My tandem master told me that one of the purposes of the tandems is to get your brain used to "censory overload." In other words, you'll be more and more relaxed every time you jump. To me, his statement made a lot of sense, and I learned it to be true.

The second tandem is much better!!! I had a blast because I was in more control of the dive. You have your own little routine; some turns, some forward motion, keeping an eye on the altimeter, etc. And the instructor gives you a bit more freedom with the toggles.

Are you doing the 3 tandems/6 instructor-assisted solos course?
