Hausse 0 #1 February 16, 2008 Hey everybody I was just doing my summer planning and I hope that I'll be able to work on a DZ for like 6 weeks this summer. My situation is that I'll be off for more than 3 months this summer and that I don't feel like working some crappy job the whole time but that I can't afford to just take vacation. I was hopeing (or maybe just dreaming) that I could go to a DZ like in Hawaii an pack/work there to make enough to pay for food and drink and the plane ticket. I am Swiss citizen and I don't really care where I go as long as it's nice and warm there and at the beach. Don't care about the country but I'm currently in the US and won't be able to afford a too expensive airfaire. I'm basically just looking for people who have done it to find some advice on how to find a DZ and what I'll need to know/be able to do by then. Thanks
HillerMyLife 0 #2 February 16, 2008 Well...packing is one way to make money especially if you want the freedom to up and leave whenever you want. I'd just start calling DZ's and get a point of contact to speak with.Someday Never Comes
PhreeZone 15 #3 February 16, 2008 Both Hawaiian DZ's are 7 day a week operations but they are done by 2 or so due to the winds. You'd need to figure out transportation to a beach from the DZ so you might end up spending most your income in transportation costs getting to the islands then around once you get there. Summer is a slower time in FL so you could look there but its less likely then some of the other options like along the costs but further north. South Carolina, New Jeresy might be looking for packers and if you wait until June the ocean is warm again. Start calling around and seeing what DZ's are needing.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Hausse 0 #4 February 16, 2008 Hey thanks for your answers. I just thought about Hawaii since it would be a great place to be. I'm aware it will be really expensive. How high are the chances that they will take somebody with low jump numbers? Does anyone know how the employment status for packers are usually handled? I am not legal to work on a contract but I am legal to work for tips.
