It’s getting better but still sucks. Out of 50 fatalities in 2012, 21 or 42 percent were under good canopies. Sad.

What data are you pulling those numbers from? It's not USPA since there were 19 fatalities in the US in 2012 as per the USPA report.

And there's also a large percentage of fatals that involved perfectly good reserves deployed too low...

How many low cutaway fatalities have we had in the past 12 months? Seems like this has been more of a killer than swooping recently.

This is the paradox of skydiving. We do something very dangerous, expose ourselves to a totally unnecesary risk, and then spend our time trying to make it safer.
