seems like the language around the 5k cap is so muddled that it will have to be fixed in appeals. Students athletes are getting up to 50k in a year in tuition+board. The NCAA could have helped itself a long while back by allowing for basic spending money (food, books, etc) on top of those permissible benefits.

The clause that players own their trademark seems likely to stand. It probably favors the media market schools and those with a historic tradition.

If they are going to be paid athletes/team members, why have the silly requirement that they be students? Each University would then just hire football and basketball players from anywhere, and pay them. Abandon this this "must be a student" requirement. Just have pro teams.

Baseball seems to get along just fine using minor league teams instead of requiring players to pretend to be college students.
