I have a huge smile on my face right now. The way you talk is just so uniquely incredible, I have no doubt that your intelligence is "off the chart" and I am in no way patronizing you. Its just that I have read many of your posts and replys and sometimes I just start feeling so stupid, I cant explain it...and I absolutely love your forum name!!!

It is wise to keep an open heart with regards to God, while you dont know his existance, you dont know his non-existance either. "

I wonder how you would feel if someone said :
"It is wise to keep an open heart with regards to Thor, while you dont know his existance, you dont know his non-existance either." ***

I am all ears. What does Thor have to say for himself, or any deity for that matter. If there is any wisdom out there that will enable me to live a fuller life and better understand reality please convey it. The validity of any deity or philosophical theory is in the wisdom of their words.

Well, what does YOUR god have to say for himself (which excludes the Bible, since that, with all its contradictions, was written by men).

The evidence that Thor exists is exactly the same as the evidence your god exists - zero.

Science doesn't focus much on temptation as far as I know. That's more within the spiritual realm. But being a little disturbed myself , I know how I make changes...or stop temptation.... When I find myself thinking and feeling and behaving in ways that I neither like nor want to think/feel/act, I make a conscious choice to think differently and to behave differently. I CHOOSE how to think and act. Eventually, over time, how I feel follows. Nothing easy about making changes. Maybe the changes are quicker when God makes 'em. But we do have the power to make ourselves spiritually well, even without religion.

:DAre you serious about this? Jesus is the only reason I have anything from God at all. I know you guys doubt his earthly existance, but the influence you cant doubt as it is all around, changing peoples lives for the better, making believers out of all those who hear and understand, and you do know why right? Love. No one, not even Thor can compete with the love of God that is in Jesus. Jesus can soften the hardest of criminals, the most prideful and hate-filled of man. Grace is Gods love for us not only in spite of the things we have done, but because of them. I am sure you may not believe it, but Gods power goes beyond your understanding, it is more than possible that you will find the love of Jesus one day, a day when you need it the most, when you think after all that I have done and said, theres no way he would still want me. Come to God like that my freind, and I promise you he will reveal himself. Let me ask you a question, "What right do you have to be against Jesus?" He loves you more than you could even imagine, though people spit on him and beat him and persecute him, he loves and loves and loves, he loves those who hate him most, that is the power behind grace.

So, it doesn't matter if you think any deity exists or not, you'll believe in it if you think it has something nice to say?

I could tell you some things my friend, but I think we both know that at you current state of God consciousness it would fall on deaf ears. Sorry.

So are you saying truth is of no relevance?
That may be ok for those that asses each prophets words on their own merit, but most religious people dont do that.***

Truth is absolute whether we ever find it or not. I do not and never will speak for or defend religion.

Please speak, I can judge your words by the fruit they produce.reply]

It'd be nice if you could use your own words.:S

But again, why does whether or not a religion's words make people want to be nice to each other have any bearing on whether or not that religion's god actually exists, and therefore whether that religion is true?

If a god did exist I don't see why it should be any more likely to be nice to us and want to tell us what to do than be apathetic or evil to us.

What a load of RUBBISH. You start with an unproven assumption, and then use that assumption to try to prove its own truth. That, my friend, is the most transparent circular reasoning.

Me neither. I have no idea why God would still want any of us. Maybe somebody who wasnt as dark and dirty as I was yeah, but definitely not me. When I saw the truth of how bad I really was (like when an alchoholic realizes he has a problem) I thought for sure I had gone too far. It is in the truth that God reveals the grace in Jesus through. Repentance is merely speaking the truth with all your heart and confessing to God everything that is in your heart. Grace is what is recieved when you ask Jesus to cover your sins. Life is the gift of that grace. Dont you know that if one is guilty that he doesnt want to acknowledge that? Its called denial and it is very strong. Truth is the only thing that can get us passed denial.

How is it an uproven assumption? Is it not true that Jesus has an influence on people whether he was proven or not? Consider this, that most of the New Testament was written to express the message of the Gospel, not to merely testify to his existance but what he existed for.

Of course the story of Jesus has influenced people over the years. You seem to be forgetting though, that it has influenced quit a few of them to do evil things. Is this evidence that Jesus was evil?

You are speaking of the crusades?? They were not Christians at all. Just because someone does something in the name of someone else, does not mean that they know the person. Oh, and the Gospel says the exact same thing....Its the essence of the hypocrite. Jesus is the truth, so if we dont speak the truth, then the truth never knew us.

21"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' 23Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'

I am not sure I understand exactly what you are saying. I have no use for religion, religious rituals, or holidays. Spirituality and Spiritual growth focuses on removing the obstacles between man and
God. Its purpose is to return man to his true state of innocence so he/she can commune with God.
