Fourth paragraph down...

Quote

The detainees were also forced to listen to rap artist Eminem's "Slim Shady" album. The music was so foreign to them it made them frantic, sources said.

I knew listening to that crap was torture, now I have proof.:D

It's a good article, and explains why (contrary to what some think) torture is not a very effective means of getting accurate information.

Some people get all shrill & say "WE HAVE TO TORTURE THEM IF IT MEANS IT WILL STOP THE NEXT TERRORIST ATTACK!!" and never seem to consider the idea that, regardless of the moral issue, is torture really effective?

If it is ineffective anyway, then there's no reason to go into the moral argument.

Playing loud music sure worked with Noriega. He'd rather come out and be extradited and imprisoned for 20 years than listen any longer. Can't deny it works. :P

During World War II, american interrogators of Japanese POWs found that the most effective method of eliciting real useful information was to treat their prisoners humanely and develop a relationship with them. which took some time and effort, but paid off in the long run. But this current administration has no time for patience or for any information they don't want to hear.

Torture doesn't yield information, it yields CONFESSIONS. That big Al Qaeda fatass who was nabbed in Pakistan a few years back was waterboarded has confessed to EVERYTHING. I think he even confessed to killing Lizzy Borden's parents. He confessed to so many things that his confessions aren't worth a damn.

Most CIA and SERE School trainees are reduced to screaming jello after just 15 seconds of waterboarding. Mr. Al Qaeda is said to have lasted a full two minutes before he confessed to everything back to Cain murdering Abel. If Bush were waterboarded, he'd confess to being a serial child molester on national TV, just to make it stop.

Aside from the moral arguments, torture is simply useless for getting REAL information. And the fact that the President of the United States LIES about our country not using torture, while he secretly authorizes it, makes us all look very very bad in the eyes of the rest of the world.

Your humble servant.....Professor Gravity !
