vortexring 0 #2 January 22, 2007 Reckon the internet is already on it's last legs - I'll give it around 15 more years. 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'
Gawain 0 #3 January 22, 2007 I don't see it happening directly. The site will likely draw as much support as it does condemnation. Already though, I see a real problem with the credibility of the site, as the Internet itself is not necessarily trustworthy. A lot of "leaks" will need to be vetted heavily. Of course, some people will believe anything. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! matthewcline 0 #6 January 22, 2007 When Al Gore made the internet he knew it would need a little improving. Soon with the GOV monitoring all our e-mail we will have that improvement! Ironically I recall a heated email exchange quite early in the development of Arpanet/Internet, with a conservative commenter saying "see if you like how easily the government can read your mail off Al Gore's Internet!" Back when people thought it was a horrible idea, few people had any qualms about attributing the Internet to Gore's efforts.

The internet provides to much information and power to the general population. There are certain areas of the internet which are screaming to be policed and controlled (i.e. porn), but I reckon in the not so distant future, the ability to go where you like, when you like and say what you like will no longer be there. It'll be completely different. So gob off about your Governments on SC while you can! 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!"
