WOW. This what they consider a fix to the problem. Very irresponsible on their part. Considering that the door came open accidentally, this seems to be more of trying to cover their ass, not a fix to an obvious problem. I guess Ford should have put out a statement about the Pinto that said "The pinto will not burst into a ball of flames as long as you don't allow someone to accidentally rear end you". hookitt 0 #52 October 2, 2010 My brother bought a pinto many many years after the explosion shield recall was put out. He took it in to ford and after they finished laughing a bit, they ordered the plastic shield and installed it. The shield goes between the gas tank and the differential so no spark occurs when the differential slams into and crushes the tank. More on topic. I agree the the solution is a non-solution. I will never suggest the purchase of a Vigil. They were being high pressure sold at one of the local DZs so I hope they have stopped doing it in lieu of a better option.My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry...
