GoatBoy 0 #1 March 3, 2005 Has anyone else had these symptoms, and if so what was it? I got caught in a rotor a few years ago and jammed both my knees. I hobbled around for a few weeks and both knees hurt until after I went snow skiing. Every once in a while (once or twice a year) the pain comes back in my left knee and lasts for a few weeks. My knee hurts from just above the knee cap to just below it, usually when I have it bent for a while (mainly while driving) Once I get up and walk around for a bit it feels better. I know I have to go and have a doctor look at it, just have a bit of the "if I don't know what's wrong it will be ok" thing going on. Plus I'm not going to have anything done till after the season is over, unless I absolutely have to. Any ideas of what I may be in for? funks 1 #2 March 3, 2005 i ripped every single ligament off the bone in my left knee in a motorcycle accident a year 1/2 ago. Had to have major surgery. One thing I realized from it, is you dont fuck with your knees and you get the shit taken care of. you could have torn something, ripped something or maybe just strained something. My knee still feels like you described and that was after surgery, 2 months on crutches and rehab (not enough rehab). message - go get it checked out. you will most likely be sent for an mri, but trust me...go check it out because you could be doing more damage to it without knowing. NEcrewDOG 0 #3 March 3, 2005 From your description, I can't really tell what you may have done. It sounds more like a cartilage tear...but, I'm no doc. I've had completely torn ligaments and torn cartilage in each knee (from football). I had surgery on both...did solid physical therapy for 5-6 months...and have successfully returned to skydiving and skiing after each injury. If you just had a cartilage tear, you'll only have a couple of months of recovery. You must do the PT though. Do not slack on it. Make your appt with a sports medicine specialist. You can probably wait till the season is over with...since you've gone without any treatment for 3 years. I wouldn't prolong any further than that. You could make it worse...and end up having a longer recovery time.Skydive Radio!!!
d_squared431 0 #4 March 3, 2005 I have had my share of knee injuries and they suck! I have to have yet another surgery on my left knee and right now I don't want to have it done. I have so much crepitation in my knee someone once bought me a can of WD40 as a joke. I still get to snowboard if I Beer, Tylenol, and ibuprofen up for the day. For some reason that combo seems to kill the pain . To me it sounds like your meniscus has a subtle tear in it. That pain is like a stiff cramp that wont go away and you get a sharp stabbing feeling. It isn't a constant pain either it comes and goes until it becomes worse then you really know something is wrong. Cold weather really takes it's toll on those joints that have had injuries and if you don't go to the gym and work you legs out a few times a week after any type of knee injury they will hurt.
