HELP repairing terracotta chimeneas

Recommended Posts

Quote

My GF's terracotta chimenea just got knocked down in the wind and the top broke how is this to be repaired so that it can be used again?

will refractory cement work?

I broke a terra cotta wall hanging (for lack of a better descriptor) and I used liquid nails to put it back together. It worked really well. Not sure if the heat would affect it on the chimenea but it's worth a shot.

I just got a call from a local college's art director, he said to use the refractory/Furnace cement and just butter the pieces and put them back together and to smear the repaired ares on the inside with some as well to insure a strong repair.

To all that have responded TYVM

you should have seen how sad she was that it broken[:/]
