Military Deployment bag

Recommended Posts

I'm not certain this is the correct Forum or not but here goes a question for our military jumpers: Is it possible to collide with the deployment bag of the previous jumper in your stick? The scenario is a C-119, starboard door, exit speed of 125 knots (at least it was briefed that way), 1,200 feet AGL. Exit was fast, "back-packing" for certain - less than 1 second separation. I am looking for opinions as to the possibility of striking the previous d-bag.

Yes, doing military static line, it is possible that a jumper following the jumper in front of him too closely could make contact with the static line assembly and or D-bag as they exit the aircraft.

If you ever see any of the outside video of combat equipment, static line jumps you would be shocked at some of the poor body positions and incidental contact made with other jumpers, the aircraft or the static line assembly.

I have seen many a video in my job just as LD described.

It happens even with the faster A/C and better exit separation some times.

It makes for some funny jokes in the assembly area some times.
