At least that's what I think the publications say. that's correct. this should give you some more information http://www.nasfaa.org/AnnualPubs/TaxBenefitsGuide.html if your modified adjusted gross income is more than $55,000 (if you file as single), you wouldn't be able to claim it either. you might qualify for the lifetime learning credit, however, which does apply for grad school tuition. At least that's what I think the publications say. Correct, but ... You can take the lifetime credit which is 20% back on a max of tuition of $10,000.
