madhatter 0 #1 November 14, 2009 First was the passenger who ejected himself from a PC7 during a demo flight. Second was the 2 parabats killed during a training jump a week ago. Today a privately owned Lightning jet crashed at an airshow a our Test Flight & Development center http://blogs.timeslive.co.za/wanderer/2009/11/14/lighting-fighter-jet-crashes-at-south-african-airshow/ http://www.timeslive.co.za/news/local/article194296.ece I think Sangiro was attending the show today. Friends of mine were arriving at the airbase just as the plane went down. My thoughts go out to the pilots family A VERY MERRY UNBIRTHDAY TO YOU!!! I read somewhere that he deliberately flew away from the crowd. If he had that much control left, he should have been able to eject too?
Scratch 0 #4 November 18, 2009 From what I can understand He flew out to sea to dump fuel before trying an emergency landing. Speaking to someone who was there he was on approach to the airfield about 10km out when the aircraft went into a sudden dive. The pilot apparently reported an ejection seat malfunction prior to impact. Ejection seats malfunction every now and then, those designed in the 1960's probably more so
