phoenixlpr 0 #1 May 8, 2005 I have an F111 kill-line PC, with a window on the bridle. I`ve noticed that it was not collapsed on the last jump, it only spooned up. I have 35 jumps on it. All I have seen is the attachment to the D-bag got a bit looser than before. Any other reason for that? I don`t want to have a break chute trailing after me. hookitt 0 #2 May 8, 2005 It sounds like the kill line is too long. If it's new, then bring it to your rigger and have him take a look at it. Chances are, it's an easy fix to shorten the kill line to the proper length. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... chriswelker 0 #3 May 8, 2005 Buy a new p/c and be done with it.Problem solved. Chris Welker
hookitt 0 #4 May 8, 2005 phoenixlpr mentioned he had 35 jumps on it so unless he bought it second hand, it is new. Brand new pilot chutes come with the incorrect length of kill-line fairly regularly. If the line is an inch or 2 too long, the pilot chute has a tendency to spin up.My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... phoenixlpr 0 #5 May 8, 2005 Yes, I`ve bought as a new and it was just the first time not to collapse.

From the towering height of my 200 jumps, can I suggest that it may be that the kill line is not too long; it could be that the tape that prevents the d-bag from disappearing up the kill line is too *short*, preventing the kill line from doing its job. If, instead of heaving on the hacky handle to cock the pilot chute, the OP delicately pulls on the kill line instead, it should be fairly obvious whether the line is too long - should be longer than the apex tapes, but not ridiculously so.
