Eagleeye 0 #1 June 17, 2010 I've recently switched from IE to Firefox and I like it. I have found that while on DZ.com the page does not refresh every time I visit it. For example, When I visit a forum from the main forum menu, read some posts, then go back to the previous forum, it does not show that that I have read certain posts. It works when I visit Craigslist, but not on DZ.com. I've typed ABOUT:CONFIG in the address bar and changed the frequency number to 1 under (browser.cache.check_doc_frequency), but doesn't work. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
GogglesnTeeth 6 #2 June 17, 2010 Here ya go... It's called reload every.... you can ad it to Firefox and then tell each web page to reload when you want. Enjoy! https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/115/Goggles and Teeth "You fall like a greased safe!!!"
Eagleeye 0 #3 June 18, 2010 Thanks G & T, but I've tried that already. You can set that one to reload every few seconds or whatever you wish, it's quite annoying to have the page flicker every few seconds or whatever you set it to. Thanks though. I'm trying to find the solution where the page reloads when you visit that same page again. I'm stumped.
amstalder 0 #4 June 18, 2010 It really just doesnt, I always thought it was an issue with DZ.com, not firefox, tho... About a week or two ago, it was reloading when Id hit the back button, but it has been back to the way it was as of a few days ago... Ive found its just easier to hit the "return to bonfire (or whatever forum)" at the bottom of the page when Im done reading.
ds8221 0 #5 June 18, 2010 Firefox is optimized for a dial up connection for some dumb reason. I had the same problem with page reloads on many websites. Try this: (if you have a dsl/high speed connection) (it is recommended that you back up the firefox registry first) 1 - type about:config in the address bar, type network.http in the filter field 2 - double click network.http.pipelining and set to TRUE 3 - double click network.http.pipelining.maxrequests set the integer value to 15 4 - double click network.http.proxy.pipelining and set to TRUE 5 - right click anywhere on screen, select New then Integer, enter NGLAYOUT.INITIALPAINT.DELAY 6 - set the integer value to 0 and click ok David
Eagleeye 0 #6 June 18, 2010 Thanks for the replies. I'm starting to think it is this site as well. I switched over to Firefox about 2 weeks ago and thought that I had noticed the reloading problem about a week ago, but wasn't quite positive. The page loading works fine when I visit Craigslist. Oh well, I'll just keep resorting to the button on top. Thanks again. p.s. I do notice a faster page load with the manipulation that DS8221 has recommended. Thank you.
