Back after 13 years off

Recommended Posts

Was a Jump Pilot for 2 different drop zones from 1991-1998. Had 281 jumps and my "D" License before I walked away from Skydiving and Flying, due to accidents at both drop zones.

Now, with a kid in college and my youngest turning 18, I decided to get back into the sport as the 18yr old wanted to make a Tandem skydive soon after her 18th BD. At the least, I thought it would be nice to at least be with her in the plane for the ride up and be in the landing area when she gets down. She will be making her 1st jump in 1 week out of a King Air and I'm goning to be smiling all the way...

I will soon have a 30,000ft HALO jump as well. This was something on my bucket list for many years back in the day. I've scheduled the HALO jump, I'm paid and ready to go.. :)
I've really missed it.....

Well, um, one might take it that you are some kind of bad luck jinx. How about telling us where you're going to be jumping, so that we can be sure to avoid that drop zone, so as to not be involved in the next accident. ;)

Ouch, I take it that's a joke but I guess my "sense of humor meter" is a bit off... If serious, just avoid jumping in MO, TN, IA and IL and our paths wont cross.....

I was the Jump Pilot for the suicide at the 1st drop zone. It was a little tough to deal with (both the loss and the FAA), but you move on. The 2nd drop zone closed when their 206 caught fire at 2.5-3k and no one got out. The plane crashed upon landing and all 6 perished (including John Schuman, mentioned many of times on this board). I was not in attendence that day when it happened, but 3 funerals in 3 days was tough as well.
