  1. Thank you all, especially Andy. Looking at the mirage document, they make no distinction between lengthening and shortening the main lift web, and say that changing the length of the main lift web is one of the least expensive resizing operations. This gives me some hope that I might be able to get this done within budget. Now, back to my Christmas baking. (Yeah...Wanna make something of it?!) -Cheers! I believe you have my stapler.
  2. I can see the coolness in that, if HAM is your thing. But here we're talking about taking a portion of attention away from the beautiful experience of a long canopy flight and directing it toward a friggin little electronic widget. The thought of it makes my head explode! I've been watching a series on Discovery about novice mountaineers who sign up to climb Mt. Everest. They're on a very tight schedule the day of the summit attempt, so they only have 20-30 minutes on the summit before they need to head back down. One of the guys decided he would use that time to make a cellphone call. That is a moment in his life that he will never get back. I threw my TV out the window. I believe you have my stapler.
  3. I just took delivery of a used rig. It's pretty much ideal for me in every respect except harness size. It is waaay too small and the legstrap buckles are at my waist. What are the chances of getting a Talon Classic modified to increase the harness size? It looks like a big job to me, but I'm no expert. If I can't get it done for a couple of hundred bucks, I gotta send it back to the seller. BTW, I contacted Rigging Innovations by e-mail asking the same question, but I don't expect an answer until Monday, so I figured I'd throw it out there. I believe you have my stapler.
  4. We could start a new thread on the subject: "Should I bring my cellphone with me while skydiving?" I bet it'll be lively. i would say yes, bring it in case you land off. i wouldnt ever use it under canopy though. Hands free voice activated cell phone wouldn't be any different than using a portable amateur radio transceiver, as it was mentioned above. OMG, What ever happened to "Be here now". Maybe it's just me... I believe you have my stapler.

  6. I did a "Cross Country" (Can't remember if it was 5 miles, or 6) with a buddy. Very mellow!
  7. No. He's right. Sell the horse.. Then you will have enough money for the beer. Zackly! I believe you have my stapler.
  8. Not having nearly the experience level of others in this conversation, I can only contribute an engineer's take, and that is that the orientation of the tail has more influence than the orientation of the nose. It's the tail that inflates first, no? And the nose last? I believe you have my stapler.
  9. I'm willing to tolerate the bad writing, acting, and pay full ticket price just to see this on an iMax screen in 3-D. I believe you have my stapler.
  10. I prefer rolling it up in a real tight ball, and shoving it in the microwave. JUST KIDDING!!!!! (sheesh...) While some people were lucky enough to own 'Clouds in '81, others were jumping Paracommanders. I washed mine in the bathtub with, yep, Ivory Snow. Can't remember how I dried it, probably just layed it on the floor in the apartment for a few days. I believe you have my stapler.
  11. IMAX 3D I believe you have my stapler.
  12. Looks like some kick-ass footage! Yeah, especially the very last scene of the trailer! I'm thinking that the trailer was in the can, and someone said, "WE NEED MORE BOOBIES!" So instead of messing with what they had done, they just tacked it on the end. Better late than never... I believe you have my stapler.
  13. Yeah, I noticed them funny-looking parachutes that seem to be popular nowadays. They look like friggin matresses! (Yeah, like that'll work...) And they pack different too. Chicks dig my Paracommander. I believe you have my stapler.
  14. Alright, as usual when I ask a question, all the replies average out to "whatever...". (Probably because I tend to ask meaninless questions out of boredom.) That said, I'm gonna split the difference: For my first stow, I will drag the rig on a mat, for the second stow, I will walk the bag, etc. until done. I believe you have my stapler.
  15. Is that an IMax movie? I believe you have my stapler.

So, what are they doing? Using controversy to "put Mirage on the map"? Get the name out there? Does Mirage really need to think in those terms? I'm thinking everybody knows Mirage, at least jumpers who are seriously shopping for a system. I believe you have my stapler.
  17. I sort of remember something about going inside and packing on a table.... That musta been before the good old days. I believe you have my stapler.

I still refuse to believe this was a serious attempt by Mirage to use sex as a tool to sell state of the art harness/ container systems. Yes "Sex sells." is a universally true statement, but it is not the most effect sales tool in every instance. And as with any tool, it needs to be used correctly to do the job. Just throwing a hottie onto a page without any (or hardly any) connection to the product, isn't going to sell anything. I believe you have my stapler.
  19. How much do you weigh? How fast are you going when you deploy? Now, how much does the rig weigh? How strong are you when you pull your lines with one hand? I kinow, I know, I just grasping at straws with that statement. But what I've gotten is that (assuming a clean packing surface) people prefer to move the bag to either dragging the rig (because of wear), or mounting a drag mat (because of inconvenience). I believe you have my stapler.
  20. Yeah, that's one thing I'm gonna miss. Back in "the good old days", skydiving was entirely an outdoor activity. After you landed, you packed outside, which meant that you stayed connected with the sky, the planes taking off and landing, and the skydivers landing. Now, skydiving is mainly indoors. Packing, dirt diving, reviewing videos etc, all done indoors. I believe you have my stapler.
  21. Thanks, Just wanted to make sure it isn't not based on some wierd myth about repeatedly pulling on the lines. I believe you have my stapler.
  22. I'm buying a main with 400 jumps, new lines. It has been jumped in AZ, and I live in the northeast. Should I wash it to get the dust out? Is the dust even an issue? (Haven't taken delivery yet, so I don't know how dusty it really is.) I believe you have my stapler.
  23. But with a drag mat, the only thing actually dragging is the mat and the lines. I believe you have my stapler.
  24. I used to flat pack, (which was sooo easy ) now I'm learning Propack/Psychopack. Seems like nobody uses drag mats any more. Instead of pulling the rig (by pulling the lines) toward the bag while stowing the lines, the bag is walked toward toward the rig. Why? Seems like a lot more physical work than just sitting in one spot with the bag, and pulling on the lines. I believe you have my stapler.
