  1. I'm 215 lbs and i did a rodeo with a 115lb girl both ways(her on my back and mine on hers) We had someone do outside video when i was on her back and at one point he had to go head down to keep up with us we were falling so fast. When she was on my back my dytter said we were going about 180. I think it was wrong but i knew we were cranking the whole way.

Heres video of me on her back. Not a great jump but fun anyways.

No one ever wants to hear this, but the answer is to lose weight.

    This helps but also...

1: learn to fly your body.i'm a heavy guy myself(6'1" 215lbs without gear) and i fall pretty fast. I'm still working on falling slower and while it's tough you can always train yourself to fall slower.

2: There's plenty of jumpsuit manufacturers that have options to help slow you down as well. Look into that when buying a suit.

3: IMO it's easier to fall faster than it is to slow yourself down. Fly with people who either fall fast or know how to fall fast at first. This will help you learn the basics of jumping with people. There's also drills you can do with other jumpers to help you fly slower and work on being able to stay that way the entire jump. Find people who can help you with this and you should be ok.

Edited to add: I posted this because this helped me personally. What worked for me may or may not work for you but it's something to think about.

See you there squeak! i'll be staying at the skyrider inn and we have cars to leave our gear in. So i think i'll be ok.

  5. My dad was and still is very supportive of me skydiving. My mom, on the other hand, wasn't so supportive. So when i went down to visit her in florida i wanted to make a few jumps and invited her along to just watch with absolutely no pressure to jump. After making a few jumps, she actually asked me how much it was to skydive and was considering jumping!

She still hasn't made that skydive but is much more supportive of me skydiving. I think a big part of it is i showed her how safety is our number one priority and it showed at the dz.

  6. Haven't broken anything but i did sprain my ankle pretty bad on my category e jump. Waas out for 4 months because of it and was back to jumping. Hopefully i won't hurt myself again but with skydiving you never know.

  11. demand 4 isn't completely wacky. There are plenty of countries that give free college education. The other demands are certainly nuts but i think free college education can be done as well as be beneficial to our country.

Why do we have different classes in skydiving? Why not just one big open class, so that the people in the novice classes can understand just how far they have to improve in order to be good?

I understand the point you're making here however this example would be comparable to these peewee leagues playing against a high school team.

The teams in question are both at an "equal" level in that they're both peewee teams. There's always going to be someone better than you at something. I think things like this teach kids that everyone is at an even and equal level and, in my opinion, sets them up for disappointment when they get older.

Kids need to learn that losing is ok and that you're not always going to succeed at everything. Teach them that if they want to succeed, they need to work harder and practice. They don't need to be taught that when you're not good at something that everyone will come down to your level so things are even. That just doesn't happen in life. You don't get better by competing against people who are worse than you. You get better by challenging yourself.

  14. I jump a pilot and they open really soft. My snivel is a long one 700-1000 ft(sometimes shorter though) but the openings are fantastic. Keep in mind i've only jumped a navigator, pilot, and sabre 2. so far the best openings are on my pilot. someone recommended hma instead of spectra but i jump my pilot with spectra and my openings are nice and soft. I'm still new so i don't know what difference it would make but this is just my 2 cents

Yeah but not only do I make it look good but I can pull it off!
See unlike my friend, I am capable of being engaging and exciting and fun to be around.
She on the other hand kind of sits back and wants' the guy to do all these little tricks for her.....much as they did when she as a student in engineering / science school.
But now she is in the real world and well her inflated ego is starting to clash with reality.
To paraphrase, "She is writing checks her looks nor her personality can cash."

I'm sure she will lower her standards and stop trying to get the finance guys and settle for a nice engineer / scientists who she can boss around all day and who thinks she is god's gift to the dorks.

Haha if what you say is true then all i have to say is fair enough. I honestly do hope you find what you're looking for. Dating isn't easy especially as you get older. [:/]

Geez man, ask her out already. :S

She's an engineering girl. Do you know how dull they are on dates?
They are gambling with chips that their looks can't cash.
It's truly a sad thing really.

I mean the girl is cute...for a scientists. But she thinks she deserves Brad Freaking Pit with two PhD's and who will bend over backwards for her and has a thing for playing guitar in the nude while making her breakfast in bed.

I told her if she wants that kind of treatment with her lack of assets she needs to hit a local DZ and giggle.

FYI PA DZ's incomming! You can than me later!

I've read many of your posts and to an extent, i have to say i agree with most of what you say. However, based on all the things i've read, it seems like you have the same attitude as this girl. You come off like you're this amazing guy with even more amazing looks who just can't catch a break. No offence, but i've seen pictures of you and you're no brad pitt yourself(and believe me, neither am i. that's not really my point). Yet, you come on these forums acting like you deserve a perfect 10.

I'm not saying lower your standards. I'm not even suggesting you settle. Yet, you point out that this girl isn't that great looking and expects an amazing looking guy who will bend over backwards for her and it seems to me you expect exactly that yourself.

Please note that this is not a personal attack on you. I'm sure you're a really cool guy who does, in fact, have a lot to offer someone. I'm just saying don't come on here talking about someone who, in my opinion, is doing and expecting exactly what you do.

    Absolutely, positively YES!!!

Any ONE of these will work: (i) she is American; (ii) older than 25 yrs.; (iii) at 5'5, weighs more than 120 lbs (adjust accordingly for height variations).

In those cases, I prefer our relationship to be platonic!

I mean beyond teens and early 20's - I'm talking strictly platonic for both parties.

Shah, you got a new screen name!:D

  18. Yes it's possible. I have plenty of female friends that i'm "just friends" with and nothing more. Unless i'm oblivious to the fact that there is sexual tension there, i think my friendships with these females are totally platonic.

  19. I actually find it more funny to ask questions that sound like they have something to do with skydiving(and don't) and watch them try to answer them. It's usually worth a good laugh.
