  1. Do you have any desire to be with a woman? As someone suggested above, maybe it would sate him (and you) just be be in bed with both of you, but with you inbetweem him & the other girl. Or it could be a big frustrating tease, YMMV

If not, absolutely not. here's why:

These things can turn into a can of worms even when everyone is into the idea from the start.

Having someone begruggingly enter into such an endavour, especially with as strong of feelings as you have against it, is tantamount to deciding to break up..... after your heart is broken by being present for that, of course.

There's a big difference between begruggingly dressing up for some goofy fantasy of his, and letting him fuck someone else.

Landing without injury is not necessarily evidence that you didn't fuck up... it just means you got away with it this time

not rule it out, but that should be the last thing looked at.

is it? According to what i've read, elevated mood just before suicide is common. The thought is that the person is releived, having made their decision, having 'found a way out' or whatever, like a weight off their shoulders.

Mind you, i'm not a psychologist, and this was a few years back, but IF it was a sucicide it woulnd't be the first where the person was in a deceptively good mood preceding it.

  3. you can't physically fit too many skydivers in gear on the tailgate line up for a 3 across magic carpet, it's too deep.

remember, a carpet is long, it's not like chunking a 10way base off the tailgatw where you're cramming as many people in the door as you can

As it was we didn't even have to try to make it loose enough for the people at the back of it to be at the 18 person line (thos are my legs at the top of the picture).

When the green came on we started the count and at the back we pushed... no eating of tailgate to be found

The vidiot DID make it 19, but we kept the rest of the load crammed up by the front. I have no interest in stalling the casa, FWIW i think we did it safely.

  4. i imagine it cause maybe, just maybe, yoe'll be more inclined to listem to someone who's been there than someone they view as a goody-goody who's afraid to push the envelope.

likelyhood is they'll conter with something along the lines of "you just obviously weren't up to it" rather than "oh... THAT's what happens if i push too far too fast", but at least my conscience will be clear because i tried.

I'm not quite jaded enough yet to NOT try and then write it off as, "ah, they wouldn't have listened anyway."

    YMMV

  5. airplanes very nature of having a stall point means that while flying the always have a ready supply of moving air to deflect in such a way as to compensate for the effect, plus lots of drag from the wings to overcome.

it can be as simple as a trim setting to having a slight body distortion or an extra fin or somesuch to, once there is airflow over it from forward speed, compensate for the rotational forces.

ask anyone who's eve flown a stunt plane with enough force to hang the plane on the prop (ron?)... you have you actually give the plane the input to counter the spin. Why helicopers aren't just controlled the same way i'm not sure.. i'd guess it's a matter of the wing area needed and/or the velocity of the air across the wing surfaces (mught higher than with a small prop than a bigger rotor)

no offense jerm.....but i remember about 10 people surounding you when you had a camera on your head with under 100 jumps, something like 20 thousand jumps collectivly telling you you were being dangerous and unsafe.

and i remember you telling us that you knew what you were doing

i'm not offended, you're just thinking of someone else... my first camera jump was #411 and that's abotu the time i started jumping at the ranch regularly (though my first jump at the ranch was way back at 238.... no camera.... 8 jumps back from a broken leg in PA)

i was actually petrified of putting the camera on my head, sought a lot of guidance from the vidiots at the DZ i was jumping at at the time..... most of my major cockiness was knocked out of me on jump 230 when i hooked low, but i'd never jumped at the ranch at the time. Didn't start even think about swooping again until i hit 1000.. but now i'm really digressing.

I am curious who that was, though... pasquale perhaps? hmmmmmmmmm

  7. most people who aren't safe skydivers don't think they're unsafe. As ron says, nobody goes to the DZ expecting to go in that day, yet people still go in.

The fact of that matter is that people with VASTLY more time and experience in the sport think that you are doing things that are unsafe. Please enlighten me as to what makes your 320 jumps worth of wisdom trump theirs.

It might be a different story if it were one person, but many people view you as an accident waiting to happen. You would do well to find out WHY they think so. It might yield information that you haddn't thought of.

Oh yeah, and i call bullshit on your self-affirmed safety record. Repeatedly and eliberately landing across the common, established traffic pattern is not a spotless record. I can't speak to more than that, i've stopped watching you land for fear of what i'll see.

as far as gear tampering? please... if we wanted you dead, we wouldn't bother trying to talk to you and would just let you go in all by yourself.

THINK yuri.... do you REALLY know more about safe skydiving than the people around you with multiple THOUSANDS of jumps?

Leason learn: I'll re-evaluate how I hold my toggles. Any suggestion from swoopers?

    Technical details:
    Sam 136 loaded at 1.8
gloves, tackified newmans (always wear them)

rig and other stuff not too relevant IMO.

    Glad yer ok dude...

I always have my whole hand through the togges and use only 2-3 fingers on the fronts but make the srip with my whole hand so that my pinky keeps the toggle in place. Letting go of the front riser then involves only a few fingers and not an entire opening of my hand. Gripping the dive-loop with 4 fingers means you have to let go with 4 fingers and if your toggle happens move forward on your hand... well.. you were lucky.

I'm no pro swooper, so i can't speak to 'proper technique', but it feels very solid and has kept me safe so far. I'm not worried about having to flare with jsut my pinky(though i imagine i could), as it's not there to actually takje the load of the toggle, jsut keep it from slipping to the wrong place on my hand.

hmmm...I'm not buzzing and Jerm's drunk. Laugh So, we end up leaving as I have to do that work thing tomorrow and he walks me to the subway so I can get back to my hotel. Once I'm safely into the subway area, he takes off and goes and meets his friends.

I get on the subway heading back to where I'm staying and all of the sudden it hits me. Whew! Don't know what it was about the subway, but the 4 drinks I had caught up to me. Blush Luckily, I get back to the hotel safely after navigating the subway system and am now trying to figure out the caffiene level needed to survive the day. BlushLaughBlush

actually.... since skyspirit brought this thread back up..... i walked/subwayed you all the way to the front door of your hotel...... so WHO excactly couldn't hold their liquir, Ms. Memory loss? :P

  12. I don't remember seeing an announcement about there being no pizza & keg. I have faith that Billy is stubborn enough to do what it takes to keep the Ranch a cool place to jump, and make it even better.

As far as jump prices, how can you NOT expect prices to go up with the way gas has been?

Fuck the politics and get out here and jump! THAT is what will make it a great place, not pizza and a keg.

Jerm DUDE.. what is all that white crap... in the pictures..

ah.. that, my dear, is just one of the beautiful powder white mountain-lake beaches nearby the Ranch. We'll often swoop these lakes when our own pond is occupied by migrant ducks so as to play curteous hosts and not disturb their temporary habitat.

  15. i asked don about it once and he said he didn't keep track.. usually 1 or 2 a year... but that's nowadays.... back in when squares first came out i'm sure it was far far higher.

pip redvers has 15000+ jumps and no sport cutaways... though he does have 4 tandem reserve rides and 5 tandems mals

  16. so what if he's jump-whoring? he's still gotten out of a plane and landed 35,000 times w/o getting killed.... that's especially impressive when you consider that he's been jumping since the 60s when the gear was extra-scary.

besides, he has to jump-whore living in PA... if he was in Arizona it'd be easy.
