  1. I love this thread. i hate the winter. i love skydiving. i hate the winter. i love standing in the door. i hate the winter. i love the smell of the jet. i hate the winter. i even love the 50 minute drive out to the DZ. but i still will always hate the winter
  2. a rocket?! that seems like it would be even more expensive than a balloon! hmm. on a side note, isnt there a DZ in florida that takes you to 18,000 feet? would you have to wear oxygen?
  3. Thank you! I jumped my first solo (fun) jump yesterday and it was so much fun! Not having anyone rating you, and not HAVING to do anything... so i just jumped out, got stable, did a couple back flips, practiced my turns then at 7-8K i just tracked til 4500 and pulled at 4K! did some fun canopy work, came in for a soft landing right on target! i would say a successful first solo jump. BUT... i did have a bad exit, but i'm not quite sure it was something i could have prevented. The plane was PACKED! and when getting in the plane, someone elses instructor got in next to the door (PAC 750XL) and i was to be the first one out... so at 11K we had t play musical chairs and i was in a really odd position at the door with very little room to get a good leap. so out of the door, i tumbled around a lot... but i was able to maintain control within a few seconds. On a side note, this was the first time i got to open to door.... CHILLS!!! :)
  4. Thats all good info guys! And for the record, I am fully aware that I am not in the position to be doing this. This question was just spawned out of curiosity. but it sounds like there are a lot of variables involved in something like this.
  5. Is it legal for a licensed parachutist to jump from a friends plane (pilot is a licensed pilot)? what are the legalities of something like this? can you only do that kind of thing in rural areas? at all? In town? someone asked me this and I didnt know what to tell them, so i thought i'd ask my new friends at DZ.com! :)
  6. i did A,B,C on my first day and felt fine. Then i did my two D jumps the following week, then finished my 2 E jumps just yesterday. that first day i was all pumped up and did those 3, and wanted to do for but my instructor wouldnt let me jump another time that day. thank god, because once i was home, i was spent! all in all, i would say 3 max
  7. Well i did it! graduated yesterday! no repeating any levels or anything. took me only 3 days!!! those E jumps are something else! FUN! cant wait to go and jumps like 3 or 4 times for the price of one of those AFF jumps! i cant wait to learn more!
  8. im the same way! i just want to run around screaming! i just want to get out of work and go right now! im going to jump 4 or 5 times next weekend! i have dreams about skydiving :) Congrats man!
  9. Congrats man!!! I just finished my AFF yesterday! i wanted to call into work today and go skydiving, but i resisted the temptation :) Those E jumps were FUN! i loved doing barrel rols, back flips, front flips, long tracking... superman dive out of the plane! i feel pretty confident on my recovery and stability after those jumps! i didnt know i was even capable of doing flips... suprised the crap out of me! i was just in neutral, being like "ok, backflip... oh god!" then... it just happened! and i did it 3 times! ohhhh the thrill! i cant wait to learn more!
  10. I will most definatly keep that in mind. i've made myself a little set of notes to study/read at work to keep the things i need to work on in my mind all week, and i'll add that to the list! EDIT: i have 4 categories on my list, EXIT: Tracking: Turns: Canopy/Landing: All of which say RELAX :)
  11. Thats really good to know! I really do need to relax more on the exit. thats the only time throughout the whole jump that I tense up. I think its because I get nervous that im going to slip out of the plane while im chillin outside of it waiting to give the count. haha. I'll have to keep in mind to breathe more when im about to exit. counting down to the day for my "E" jumps. Only trouble is, Wheather is supposed to be bad all week throughout the weekend!
  12. I started on july, 12th, i did my A, B, and C jumps that day! LOVED it. went back last sunday the 19th and took both my D Jumps and passed those, and now im excited/nervous for my E jumps this weekend. im excited to jump all on my own (yet still have the instructor there JUST IN CASE) but also nervous that im going to flub up! I have had a couple of bad exits from the plane. i tend to want to do more of a side dive out of the plane instead of just jump and stand and watch the plane. Something i need to work on. But i have to say, from the first time i took my tandem jump, i knew this was for me and that I will be doing this the rest of my life! just thought i would share!
