  1. Hey folks -- Does anyone know anything about the "Gen X" canopy available for purchase with Rigging Innovations' Genera container? Thanks.
  2. I need to wear prescription eyeglasses when jumping (i.e., contacts are not an option due to eye irritation). I have been using Kroop's "over the eyeglasses" goggles which have worked quite well (although they are kinda nerdy as all get-out). Just curious how folks that use fullface helmets with glasses and folks that have goggles with prescription lenses feel about their choices. Thanks.
  3. Wow! This has been great, and thanks for the input to my original post. I certainly understood the importance of transitioning down on canopy size, but you all have increased my understanding a great deal. I'm also taking the advice of a number of you to not be in such a dang hurry to get to "the rig." I find myself wanting to get to point A in the future as fast as possible, but that's definitely not the best approach in this sport. With that in mind, I certainly imagine buying used gear and jumping that for the next 100 jumps or so. Thanks again.
  4. Hi folks -- Forgive the newbie question (and one that has undoubtedly been asked/answered many times), but here goes: I'm in the market for my first rig and I've decided to buy new from Para-Service: Genera container, Hornet main, Tempo reserve. I am 175 lbs exit weight with gear and need to decide what size main and reserve to purchase. I only have 25 total jumps, all under Mantas and Mavarones (i.e., big F-111 canopies). My inclination is to go with a 190 for the Hornet and maybe even a 210 for the reserve to err on the side of caution and be as safe as possible (my wife would like that). But I also don't want to sink hundereds into a canopy I may outgrow soon. Any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated. (I, of course, will discuss this with jumpers and staff at my home DZ, but I figured I would cast the net as wide as possible in order to hopefully hear all sides. Thanks! I love this sport and this site!)
