The fear and nervousness is normal, i found that what helped me in the ride up was to close my eyes, and visualize the skydive, if you aren't already doing so, try giving that a go. my instructors would also do a breathing excersize with me, where both myself and her would take 3 deep breaths at the same time, it really helped.

Do this. Visualize the entire jump just how you want it to go. Visualize everything from climbing out all the way to landing. And breath. Take some deep breaths occasionally on the climb to altitude and again before exit. Calm breath, calm mind, calm body.

And most importantly, smile and have fun. If you're not smiling, you're not skydiving, you're just falling.

***The right because I sleep on my right side and like to sleep facing my wife.

I would call that the left side, unless you are putting your feet toward the headboard (presuming that your wife is also in the bed).

My reference point is standing at the foot of the bed facing the headboard.

  3. Congrats! Based on the number of exclamation points used, it seems you are more excited about this than getting engaged :P

    What do you propose?

    Anyone?

-Background check for anyone looking to purchase a gun
-No limit to how many or what types of guns you can own
-Mandatory safety classes specific to the type of firearm you are purchasing
-Safety class instructors are trained to spot red flags in their students behavior and are able to delay the purchase of the gun until an investigation can be completed

Obviously there are a lot of kinks to work out and details to figure out, but it's how I would start.

    >Or we could just keep the A-10, a better CAS platform anyway.

Yep. Too bad conservatives are in charge.

It's actually been congress that has kept the A-10 alive while the Air Force has been trying to get rid of it. In my opinion, one of the best things congress has accomplished.

*********Take one of your socks off. I can tell you all about it, but you will see.

    why just one?

Which part of "I can tell you all about it, but you will see." don't you understand?
LOL ok, I will try it tonight.

I'm pretty sure that he meant on your next jump or time in the tunnel, although if you want to wear only one sock on a regular basis that is up to you :P

take the highway past the Fred Meyer gas station heading up baileys hill going out of town follow it till you see the turn for independence mine and hatchets pass. Turn there. If you follow that all the way through your going to end up on the other side of Wasilla. No biggie. Follow the highway back past the sports complex, spenards, and 3 bears.
If you turn the other way your headed to Fairbanks, long trip and can get boring.

A lot of my conversations about directions go something like this:

Me: OK so what's the address?
Other person: So take the highway past the Dairy Barn and turn up Sandy Hill Road . . . .
Me: I really just need the address. I can . .
Other person: It's tricky. You have to turn towards Syosset but the sign says . . .
    Me: How about the address?
Other person: Well, you can go the other way but . . . .

Eventually I just let them finish. Then I ask them something like "hey, I also have to mail a letter to them, what address should I put on the envelope?"

    billvon getting directions

Personally, I'd rather use my gps or get street names and directions. Landmarks can work but they are too likely to change or be too vague.

  8. Try doing yoga. I first did it as a new skydiver and was amazed at how quickly my awareness of what my body was doing increased. It also helps you learn to breath and stay relaxed when your body is in stressful situations.

  9. I used one of those for many jumps and never had any issue with reading it. The visibility was always good and glare was never an issue.

*********1776 was the year we declared independence. It wasn't recognized (e.g., the British government stopped fighting to get us back under control) until the Treaty of Paris in 1783. It took us until 1787 to ratify a constitution.

Geez, you'd certainly never get on TV.

You never know. I had a teacher in high school who was on Jaywalking with Jay Leno and got a pretty simple question wrong. I talked to her afterwards and she told me how she had answered questions for quite a long time and that was the only one she got wrong. She also said that the whole process of being interviewed by Jay Leno, the lights, cameras, etc. were distracting and made it a lot harder to focus.

So TriGirl may make one blunder in a long conversation and only see that part on TV.

Nah, heavily edited video is proof!

Oh yeah, I forgot this was SC
