  1. Loose fit: M4 Comfortable Fit: M3, M2, M2S Tight Fit (maybe too tight): M1 Mike Mike is spot on! I asked Rusty (of PD) info for a Pulse 170, 190, & 210 and for the 170 Rusty's reply matched Mike's. Rusty said for the optimal fit on a Pulse 170 = M3 (meaning not too tight not too soft) of course you can go one size up or down for a softer/tighter fit though. I just ordered my Pulse if you get to it before me please post a review. Aside from the "few" reviews here it was hard to get opinions on this canopy.

    Sabre2

I'm looking at getting a Sabre 2 and I went to Eloy today and rented one for the day to see how she fly's. First, I must confess, I went into this fully expecting (based on other reviews here) everything from hard openings, closed end cells, 1000ft plus snivels, off heading openings, canopy spin on opening ect. Well, after 6 jumps in mostly wind calm conditions I didn't experience one single negative event. The Sabre 2 210 puts me at a 1:1.02 wingload. I'm a very conservative jumper and typically when I'm interested in a new canopy I like to up the footage to about 1:1 and work it down to my ideal range of 1.25-1.3. This puts my ideal size in the Sabre 2 to the 170. My flying style gives me everything I need at this range. However, I was having such a good time with the 210 I decided that I'll just stick with it for the day. I had such a good time with it that I didn't see the need to rush it. For frame of reference I'm coming out of the Spectre 170. So to wrap this up, I didn't have any of the negative events I mentioned above. This canopy does have an incredible flare. It is very forgiving. I didn't do anything special on the pack. I just PRO packed. I didn't roll anything. I didn't shove the nose in at all. I was very meticulous in my first pack as I was on the lookout for all the crazy openings I've been reading about but after the first 2 no drama openings I did start getting sloppy (gotta make those lifts). Sabre 2 = Great Canopy!
  3. My initial estimate is aligned with yours... However, it would be nice to get some kind of confirmation. Looking forward to some kind of a review...
  4. Albatross-- Not to open up a whole new can of worms on myself but now that you mention it... I had originally considered the Sabre2 in a 190...You see the triathlon appealed to me because of its versatility, but somewhere in the back of my mind is "hey later on I'm going to want to do some turf surfing". So I guess I was trying to be cautious... Truth is I'm stuck over here in the ole sandbox of the Middle East doing "God's Work" and sadly to say I'm not around any "friendly" dropzones if you know what I mean... So now that I have a little free time I've decided to narrow the search on my main canopy until I can get back to the good ole U.S of A. and do some proper demo'ing if you follow my drift. But anywho I'd love to hear what you have to say about the Sabre2 in a 190 or maybe 170.... Bring it, Flee
  5. Okay here goes, I'm a newbie, 27, weighing 180lbs without gear, (200 w/gear). I have over 110 jumps all of which were various military freefall jumps, i.e. HAHO, HALO, Night, Equipment, Water, O2...ect... I'm considering the purchase of my first rig and I am settled on buying a Triathlon, however I would like your opinion on a resonable wing loading. I was considering the 175 (1.14) until talking with some of my buddies who are more experienced in sport jumping who recommend a 160 (1.25). I am soliciting your personal opinions based on your various experiences...also to go ahead and set this aside... all of your suggestions such as: "try before you buy", "ask somebody from your local DZ", "trust your friends who are more experienced than you and are better able to asses your level", have been noted in advance so no need to post. I just feel that by asking you that I will be getting a less "ego" based reason than the ones I may be getting from my buddies, to be quite frank I work with a bunch of egomaniacs and although their hearts are in the right place I feel that a second opinion couldn't hurt. Thanks in advance, best regards, Flee
