  1. I want to go get some tunnel time but being that I have never been I thought i would ask the experts. Where is the closest place for me to go? I have done some looking and come up with Skyventure in Orlando, Florida. I was just wondering if there was one a little bit closer to me. I live in Columbus, Georgia. thanks
  2. i sat down at my local dropzone this friday and read the sims. there is alot of useful info in there and i will be getting one. finding info you need fairly quickly is hard to do. why is there no index? i did find where it did say that the main repack was 120 days. thank yall for the useful information
  3. so i was asked the question the other day. what is the time frame you can go on a main repack. i have never thought of that because i hope to repack mine on a pretty regular basis. so i thought about it and decided that it if you have to repack your reserve every 120 days so should be the same for a main. But is that true because the main does not have anything complex about it like the reserve. no electronics,no nothing. i do not have a sims but got on uspa and looked at one there. i can not find the answer to that question. being that said What is the time frame between repacks on a main or is there any? any help would set my mind to ease. thank yall
  4. thanks slotperfect i was un aware of shouting
  5. SO I HAVE TO MOVE TO MOBILE ALABAMA IN A COUPLE WEEKS DUE TO WORK SO I WILL BE NEEDING ANOTHER DROPZONE TO HANG OUT AT. IF ANYONE KNOWS OF A FEW DZS IN THAT AREA THAY I COULD GO TO ID APPRECIATE IT.
  6. im trying to get some fun ideas for 100th jump. anyone have anything
  7. it might stay parked for the more experienced but without weights i would start of on one side of the hanger and end up on the other. jumping a 190 by the way
  8. no thats not what im talking about .ive only packed my rig 4 jumps so sorry if i dont know the termonology. alot of people use orange juice bottles and set it where the main goes while they run the lines up and sort the chute out. ive tried using the orage juice bottles but i for now i cant seem to keep my risers flush. skydive atlanta has some weight bags that i use to set on the risers instead of where the main goes
  9. if i could get anyones help on where i can get weight bags or maybe some pictures of your weight bags so that i can have some made i would appretiate it very much. also any ideas would help to thanks
  10. (((((PCNUT))) in no way was i trying to brag about stand up landings. stand ups are nice but i could care less how i land as long as it is the safest i could land. i was just trying to say that landings seem to be fairly easy for me. so being new to the sport and not knowing that rear riser landings could be so dangerous. i was wondering if i should practice rear riser landings but after hearing everyones great input i realize that i need to do alot of practice and really learn my canopy before trying to land one. everyone keeps saying talk to your instructor(which i do when im at the dz but is kinda hard when im sitting at home)
  11. i have 18 jumps which include 2 tandems,11 with a 230 student canopy and 5 with a 190. i have been fortunate enough to land all but two (which were on aff levels) standing up. i know stand up landings is not that important. it is good safe landings that are much more of importance. i asked the rear riser question not to go play with it but to get some pointers on the idea so when the day came i would be able to safely land and jump another day. i am young in the sport and i dont do anything with consulting my instructors 1st at SDA.
  12. i want to land a few jumps on my rear risers so if i ever have to use them in a situation i will know exactly what to expect. what do i need to be expecting when i flare. how does the canopy react. thanks for your advice in advance
  13. im sure they are a good dz. i havent been there yet but im sure i will visit them one day. my home dz is thomaston,ga. i really like everyone there and and the place just has a good vibe
  14. I started out with a tandem jump and when we landed I knew I was hooked so I started the aff levels about 2 months ago and finished all the levels this saturday. I am so hooked. All I think about day and night even at work is skydiving. Its like it is the only thing that exist. I can't wait until I reach aff and tandem soi can start helping others become a part of the sport. I've been looking all over the internet trying to learn anything I can about the sport, escpecially tips and techniques on freefalling, canopy work, swooping, everything. I know I am a beginner and don't need to rush into things and I will not do until I feel comfortable with it, but I am the type person that wants to know everything there is to know. I beleive I have seen every video on skydivingmovies.com and dropzone.com and have already learned alot which makes me alot more comfortable before exiting the plane. Dropzone.com already gives me good info but if there is any where else to get some good tips, tricks, videos or techniques I would thank you
