Some of Kenney's routes {emphasis mine} and other stuff.

Unmasking D.B. Cooper by Geoffrey Gray

“He was an amusing character,” McWilliams says now of Kenny. He describes life in the house as “odd.” There were always other men around, men from the Army whom Kenny knew and had relationships with. “It was uncomfortable to me, because I’m not like that, but not everybody lived in that house at night,” McWilliams says. Living there as a teenager was also liberating. When Kenny came back from Japan or Germany, there were always gifts: expensive food, big bottles of aged sake, ceramic dolls. Kenny never held back financially. They always ate out. “Any restaurant, really,” McWilliams says. “He’d always call it ‘my turn.’ He’d never accept that I pay for some of the things that he ate.” Kenny also helped Mac and other young men who lived with them learn how to save. Once, as a teenager, McWilliams says, he wanted to buy a car. Kenny opened up a bank account for him and matched every dollar he earned. “There was always a little bit of cash, maybe a little bit in his dresser. Also in his wallet.” He thinks it’s possible Kenny was D.B. “As a steward, they made good money, but they didn’t make that much money.”

Why does no one ever ask questions about Alice (Peg?) Hancock? I'll bet she knows a lot (and so does Harold Anderson).

  2. According to my “Database of Geographic Locations,” In Washington, there are:

    1 – Cold Creek Valley
1 – Cold Creek Camp (City)
    1 – Cold Creek Campground
    And
14 places identified as “Cold Creek” (One of which is at the edge of the Hanford Works, but was on the Hanford Works in 1971. This is where the Japanese Balloon Bomb landed.)

Cold Creek Campground is 14 Statute miles NE of Battleground.

  3. Oh georger, you dog!

I can see through your little mystery. You thought you could sneak it past me (us), didn’t you?

There were 149 channels in the flower-spectrum. That’s an odd number… Don’t you think? Not 128. Not 256. Not even 64. But 149, a decidedly odd number of channels.

    So, Mr. Smarty-Pants, I did a little research. Here’s what I found:

The money on Tena Bar was found exactly 149 feet from the water’s edge. It weighted exactly 149 grams.

If you draw a line from SEA Airport to 1.8 miles SW of Wasco, OR, it is 149 statute miles long and at 149-degrees heading.

What is so important about that location? It is where a beacon light, parts of an old Jeep and residue of parachute cord, all of which Coffelt had described to Brown, were found in the exact locations he had pinpointed on a map before their expedition.

THIS CANNOT BE A COINCIDENCE. Someone caused all this to work out.

Therefore, I have proof that the FBI is covering-up the fact that Kenney Christianson and Duane Weber were acting together to pull off the hijacking.

  4. Several quick things:

    Farflung,

If I wasn’t such a homophobe I would say; “I love you!” So, I’ll just say; “I like you a lot!”

Instead of that mamby-pamby “kitten photo”, I would tend toward the attached photo. (I think PETA is going to come after me now.)

    Orange1,

I only listed the folks I consulted BEFORE starting the web-site. It wasn’t a list of those who I value here on DZ.com. Because I’m so totally heterosexual, I’ll say; “I love you!” (Just don’t let Sugar or your hubby know I said it!)

    All,

I only wish I HAD created the DORKZONE collage! I hardly have enough time to do simple short post.

Georger is right, there is a lot of stuff going on out there… [high pitched, snooty John Stewart voice] … and somebody we all know is getting left behind!

If you don't know that much about the case history, you should NOT be running the recognized website.

Okay guys… that’s it! The guy who wrote the most authoritative, engaging, and sapient book on NORJAK (or was it KENJAK) says I have to quit running my web site. So, I must comply.

Who will run my website? Any takers? Anyone? Beuller? Well… if no one will take it, I’ll just close it!

I went to Guru312 for advice about starting a Cooper-based web-site back in the spring of 2008; he told me it would probably be okay as long as it didn’t become recognized. He said popular was okay, informative was okay, even controversial was okay, but… I MUST NOT let it be recognized!

Well, that day has come… it seems everybody now recognizes my web-site. (I held my laptop up against a mirror and the web-site even recognized itself!). What shall I do?

It’s sad, but I know that I now must close down. When the lead investigator for KENJAK tells you that you shouldn’t be running a recognized web-site, you have to listen. It doesn’t matter that you were reading about NORJAK when he was leaving yellow turds in his diapers, you still have to listen.

So, does anybody think I would be successful running a KENJAK web-site? I think it would be okay as long as it doesn’t get “recognized.” But, then again, I don’t think there’s much chance of that… is there?

  10. Robert,

Get your head out of your ass!

I don’t know if you are just stirring up shit, or if you really believe any of those post (the ones using frequent DZ poster’s screen-names) are for real, but in any case, it isn’t worth my (limited) time to try to set you straight.

Maybe… just maybe… you posted those yourself.

    Quote

By 'going public' I meant this: I'm strongly considering posting up an article on my MSNBC/Newsvine column regarding folks who do armchair detective work on the Cooper case, or run websites dedicated to it. And I WILL use that quote in the article unless Sluggo disclaims it. It's got his name on it. If he says nothing, then I have to assume it is his. There is a lot of anger in the AB office today over that remark, which by the way is not true and a major insult to both the Christiansen family and to the memory of Kenny, a US Army vet and other than he may have been DB Cooper, was a nice guy in real life. Everyone we've interviewed who knew him personally has said this.

Ooooohhhhh! I’m really frightened! If I don’t do something, that doesn’t need to be done, I’m gonna get “article-ized” by a big-time journalist.

Again… Get your head out of your ass!

  11. You guys are all nuts!

Just when I thought the facts were overcoming the myths (around late 2008 and early 2009) the myths had a “surge” and began to win again.

Internet research is the bane of the serious researcher (I’m not one, I’m just a scribe). On the internet you can "answer-shop" and find an article to support anything you want supported.

EXAMPLE: The Cooper parachute was made of steel!
PROOF: I researched the issue and found the attached article. See attached article (.pdf)

So, you see, I have proved my point based on something I found on the internet. CASE CLOSED.

    Robert Blevins,
You should listen to georger, he is one of the few posters who “has his head on straight.” He gets irritated (and irritating) at times, but he THINKS a lot more than most.

  13. The last few post just show how posters on this thread’s brains run down into their shoes when presented with “new information”

    Get real!

A video is linear (with respect to time). All one would have to do to follow the “trail” would be to download it to a phone and follow it along as it played. (Real-time progressive directions.)

    Ask these questions:

How far can a skunk travel in ½ a day?

How much video can be stored on “Stinky Cam”?

If the guy wants help bad enough to share the “booty” with ANYONE who would help him, wouldn’t he have indicated (approximately) where he lived? Or maybe, how to contact him?

Photos of piles of money are meaningless.

Hmmmm! I think I recognize that voice. Does anyone else?

It is a hoax! Or, an attempt at humor. Nothing more… nothing less.

  15. Jo,

    Fisher Landing is located at:
    N45º 35.219’ W122º 30.287’
    Mile Marker 115 (Columbia River)
On the north channel around Government Island
5.5 Statute Miles East of the PDX Airport.

From http://columbiariverimages.com/Regions/Places/fishers_landing.html (has lots of links to more info):

    “Fisher’s Landing ...
The small community of Fisher and the once thriving docks of Fishers Landing are located at Columbia River Mile (RM) 115, directly across from Government Island and approximately 2 miles upstream of the Vancouver Trout Hatchery and the Interstate 205 Bridge, and 3 miles downstream of Lady Island and Camas, Washington. In the late 1800s Fishers Landing was a steamboat landing. In the early 1900s to the late 1960s it was the Washington end of a ferry which went across to Government Island. Today there is a small community park and beach, and not much left of the old ferry landing. Throughout the years the community of Fisher has been known as "Fishers Landing", "Fishers", and "Fishers Wharf", and even at one time "Pumpkin Center".”

A simple Google Search using the search term “Fisher Landing Washington” gets you about 1,030,000 results (0.28 seconds). When are you going to learn how to do an internet search?

  16. Boy!... I’d love to sit down, have a beer, and discuss “points-of-view” with you guys.

During part of the cold war, I was at Stanford doing AFWL (Nevada Test Site) and NRDL (Hunter’s Point) contracts. I wasn’t exposed to any of the Maj. Kong or Buck Turgedson types, but I saw more than my share of the Dr. Strangelove types.

They really do (did) exist, and while they have no more power than a “lap-dog” they influence those who do have (the highest levels of) power.

Sometimes when I think back... it nearly makes me piss in my pants.

  17. Most of the movie-talk and references that have gone on in this thread has been totally over my head as I am not a movie buff (not to be confused with a BUFF).

But “Dr. Strangelove” is my all time favorite. There is as much innuendo hidden in that film as in “Airplane.”

Have you ever noticed in the opening scene… the refueling umbilicle (boom) is attempting to hit the receiver and it strikes hard… then again… and again… with a loud clunking sound. Then… after a short pause… The David Rose Orchestra (or Hugo Montenegro, or someone) breaks out with “Try a Little Tenderness”. Then, the next attempt, is smooth, gentle, and with full insertion.

The music in movies is important to me, most never notice it.

ALL I want is the truth and the FBI to do its job.

The FBI has screwed up this investigation since get go…

…because the damned FBI is constipated and can't get off the POT.

    Jo,

Again I wish you could see yourself as others see you.

You have made similar statements at least 200 times on this thread and its predecessor. We ALREADY know how you feel about the FBI. Some may agree with you, most don’t agree with you, but… by continuing to repeat this mantra you COMPLETELY destroy the message you are trying to send.

Also, references to “things going poof” is having the same effect. You complain about things going poof… posters suggest that you compose offline then copy & paste into your DZ.com posts. You still complain about “things going poof.” Obviously you are doing the same things over and over but expecting different results (the definition of insanity).

Here is your post the way I would have done it:

    377:
It was about the wallet - the man who bought the Van called me and told me he had found my husband's wallet, but the contents of that wallet were for John C. Collins...this was military papers, driver’s licenses and the Commutation of sentence. I told him I had my husband's wallet and didn't know what he was talking about.

He returned the wallet one wk later and at that time told me he didn't know what was in the wallet that he didn't look inside.

The FBI went to see him 2-years later, they never got my opinion about what the man told me. Remember that when I sold the van to him in May of 1995 I did NOT know who Dan Cooper was. They would not interview the purchaser of the VAN until late 1997 or in early 98 - I do have that info in my files, but am making this brief.

Also remember that at the time he found the WALLET neither he nor I knew who DAN Cooper was.

What else was with that wallet? The 2 stories make me wonder and his wife would NOT talk to me at all ...when I went to their home about a yr after the FBI went to see them. If the widow was unaware of the wallet what else might I have been unaware of.

Also where he said he found the wallet - both Ann and I searched the overhead compartment and there was NOTHING there. I believe it was hidden inside of the seats he changed out (he took the seat out of the rear on the right and used it to replace the Front drivers seat (the van had 4 captains seats). No one asked him if there was an old bag or some papers? It was just an old bank bag with the name of the bank on it and it did not have a handle, but it was clean and crisp and folded up. Why I have always asked if anyone ever made Cooper souvenirs.

Neither the husband nor wife where required to take a polygraph. I told the FBI about the 2 stories - that should have been reason for a polygraph. To this day I still think there was more than that wallet found. Why was Duane so upset about my driving the VAN while he was in the hospital and asking me every day if I locked it? He never told me where to find whatever it was he hid in the wallet - if he did I was NOT listening.

What would you do if you found something the wife did not know existed in an old van you purchased? What position would you be in if 2 yrs later the FBI is asking about a couple of hundred dollars you might have found in that old van you bought? What would you do if the FBI questioned you about it 2 yrs later? Especially if you had been informed this man had confessed to a high profile crime.

I have very good reason to believe there was something else with that wallet - perhaps a bag or some other papers they just thought was trash of no value. How many of you would have returned a couple of hundred dollars in 20's to the widow? If you are honest here - 90% of you would have kept it.

In 1990 Duane purchased several gold coins - I didn't know how we could afford this (I never saw a sales ticket) - he later sold one of them because he said someone offered him a good price - I do not know how someone could make money off of a gold coin in just a couple of yrs.

Remember, he emptied out a safe deposit box before he died and left only the 1994 Soldier of Fortune magazine. PUT IT TOGETHER - Please someone listen to me - I have NOT made this shit up - NO WAY! If I was making this up don't you think I would have marketed it by now - it has been 14 yrs?

I don't have a lot of time left to finish this - and what is in this thread is what I will be leaving behind...

I think the readers would take my post more seriously than yours; I’d like to hear from them about it.

Jo, if you think the FBI is going to help you investigate Duane in the year 2010, forget it! With budget cuts, terrorism on the rise (at least according to some) and the age of the NORJAK case reaching 40-years… IT’S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

Even if you hadn’t proven yourself to be difficult to work with, having unrealistic expectations, and hostile to the Bureau, they will not expend resources on NORJAK (Duane or ANY suspect) at this time. THAT IS THE REALITY! LIVE WITH IT!

If you want to investigate Duane’s background, hire a private detective or do it yourself (and drop the “dumb-blonde” routine), you CAN do the research!

??????? I have never heard this before. Sluggo, is this just humor? If not can you tell the story behind this. I would love to hear it.

Also Sluggo, we are moving up Indy next year so all the Indy defectors like Tony, Montoya, Hornish, Danica, and the rest can pull the big double, INDY and that little race in Florida. HA!

    No, it wasn’t a joke.

My archival hard drives are already packed so I can’t find the whole story.

But as best as I remember was, I read the story in a NASCAR publication (Magazine, book, or web-page). I think it went something like this: Tom Busch ( a short-track racer out of Las Vegas) pissed someone off (if you know his two sons, you can see how that would be possible (probable)). So, the offended party called the FBI (anonymously) and said that they thought Busch was D.B. They cited a change in spending habits about 8 – 10 years after the hijacking. There may have been more coincidences, but at any rate the FBI DID investigate him and quickly cleared him.

    See photo attached.

Also, it is the “NASCAR Sprint Cup: Coca-Cola 600 @ Charlotte Motor Speedway” that is run on the same day as the Indy 500. I know you open-wheeler’s have trouble remembering a schedule that has more than 8 races a year, so I thought I’d help you out.

Seriously, the change of start-times may be to accommodate Bruton Smith who is offering to put $20M in escrow to award anyone who can win the Indy 500 and the Coke 600 in the same year.

I think his $$$ is safe. There are a few drivers that have run both races (in the modern era) but non are capable of winning both in the same year (Tony Stewart would have the best shot).
