  1. Actually he was my AFF instructor, and he shoved me with no warning, I trust the guy with my life. If he shouted jump scott, or go go go, no problem. But I thought is was somelse who did it. And yes we a had a up close disscusion, and he stated that the green light was on for 6 seconds and I had no choice and that we were at 5k, cause he "looked at two altimiters"..Bottom line,.. It was a bullshit thing to do and I belive he knew it. At least it was good training, but I did give em the finger for the first 500 feet of freefall.
  2. I've got 75 jumps in my log book. So today I try my first hop and pop. My question is- "Is it cool to push someone out the door who is not ready, because we are only at 4000 ft? Thats what happened to me and I'm really pissed. I was told we go to 5000 ft, or is the protocol altitude say.. any where between 3000 and 6000? The event really shook me up, but I learned that I can go way below my comfort altitude and do the right things.
  3. 0:0:2 Had to work, but it was at the DZ. Got two in this morning untill noon and the weather blew in. Three jumpers got blown off site and one hooked into a tree and advoided the power lines. She did not get a scratch, but part of the canopy is still in the tree.
  4. In 1983 just before college graduation, my right shoulder was destroyed in an accident involving, beer, ex-girlfriends and an intoxicated roommate. I got flipped and landed on an operating table. After a long healing process the shoulder is more mobile, just as strong and limits me from nothing. I white water kayak, backpack ect. I did elect the surgery, good thing cause the shoulder joint was totally blown out. Best of luck.
  5. Andrea, Congrats, you deserved it. You are as nice a person as I have met at the DZ. We flew on the same four loads on mother's day. See you soon schuie
  6. ya, I saw you sunday, we were on the same load together. I'll say hi, I was wearing the orange, black and yellow caamo pants and yellow t-shirt. My wife bought the pants she thought they were "cool" to go with my color scheme.
  7. I don't know where the Idaho thing came from. In fact there is no state listed in the profile section. I jump and trained at Skydive Deland.
  8. The spectres that i have jumped, vairous sizes, have all been slow to open. The snivel is too long for my comfort level. I really like the Saber II, so that's what i ordered.
  9. My Vector 3, in custom Colors is finally here. The new Saber 2, 210, Cypress and matching reserve is going to the rigger for assembly. Might just get to jump it this weekend. Rah Rah, ....
  10. Turn off the breaker first. get the largest pipe wrench you can get. or 1 3/8 socket. Turn off the water supply to the tank. Purge the pressure through the sink, by opening the water faucet, (hot side) Close off the faucet. Now put the wrench to the element, it will be tight as hell and break the element lose. Before you unscrew the element completely. Get a towel and get the new element ready, make sure that the rubber gasket is on. Now unscrew the the element and quickly slide in the new one. About a pint of water will come out during the transfere, but its less hassel than draining the tank. Snug down the new element and re wire. Turn on water. Bleed the air out through a faucet, now turn on the breaker.
  11. Sure the human body radiates heat for several hours after death. But it its, also a function of ambient temp vs body temp. It's pretty cool out there now and they should find him. That's my drop zone and I'm a (former) Search and Rescue person, my first thought was to go help. But a trained and corrodinated search equipped with communications, medical gear ect. is better than all of us running through the woods. It still sucks though, I 'd fire up the dozer and go help in a second.
  12. I have recently joined the sky diving club. Sky Dive Deland is an awsome place. I found the instruction top notch and had a blast all thru the AFF program. I try to jump weekly and everyone is fun. People come from all around the world to jump here. What a great experience.
