  1. He for sure was the grumpiest MF in the planet Earth, but a hell of a nice guy as well. I remember one day, before he went to Barcelona-Spain in 2008. We both were seat watching skydivers landings and he said: HW: I would like to make a jump. Me: me too, do you want to make a jump? HW:yes, but I don't have anyone to jump with. Me: I'm here, don't I? HW: yes, but I don't speak Castillian and you speak broken English. Me:(I looked at him like wtf?) so...... HW: how the fuck are we gonna to communicate during free fall? Both of us started to laugh and finally did a jump. After landing, he said: hey Ish, I will never ask anything to a fucking Spaniard, but due that you are an US citizen as well, and knows pretty well Spain, I have a few questions to ask you......but, if you tell anyone that I asked you those questions, I will deny it, so....just answer my questions and fuck off. Man, he will be missed.
  2. Rest in peace, David. You will be missed.
  3. I brought all my cameras from Europe and they work just fine in the US, as well as I brought my US cameras to Europe during my trips and they work fine as well. The only thing I do is to change the mode before recording if I want to watch my recordings on TV. Now, when I have to make a DVD, I need to use a Computer as DSE said. Don’t forget to bring with you or buy here an outlet converter plug, remember that in Europe we use round outlets and here in the US we use rectangle outlets. Enjoy your visit to the US, Ish.
  4. I wish the same DSE. He was just thinking no promising me anything. He just work at SonyStyle but his real work he does it from home. What he knows as far as cords, cameras, etc, it is that can be make it with no problems but under your own risk. He also told me that if you do it yourself it is not much cost involve, but as you very well said; if Sony does it, it will be lots of money for us to pay in order to have what we want. Anyway, I love the camera but not the price and the posibility of screw it and lose the warranty and the money, so for now, I will keep what I can affort to screw
  5. I stopped yesterday at the SonyStyle where a good friend of mine works. He has a second “home job” as a computer, cameras, satellite’s boxes, etc repairman. He doesn’t know anything about skydive, but I explain to him what are we looking for (a breakaway system) as well as I told him that it is an amazing idea because the camera could be use for many other trades who need a longer or smaller length of cable. So he thinks that Sony it will come with a “breakaway system” themselves, but the problem that he sees for us is that the connectors will be (in case it happens someday) about 6” from the camera and the same from the monitor, and it will be different lengths of cable for any use. So, it will be no good for us anyway because we will need around 18” to 22” (depending our sizes and location of the camera) in order to have a safe breakaway and don’t have cable slapping our faces, eyes, neck, etc or getting screw at deployment. Talking with Kris gave me an idea, so I went back home, took one of my Homeland Security Cameras (the connector is at 5-1/2” and use almost the same A/V cable that the HXR-MC1 as for video, audio and zoom goes as well as it’s the same size camera). I took it to Kris together with my helmet, jumpsuit and rig as well as my laptop and camera remote. He used the same type of cable and connectors that my Homeland camera use and added another 12-1/2” to it (To make the 18” that I was looking for, so at breakaway the end of the remain cord will be attached to my suit’s shoulder and not slapping me around), then used another connector from there to my laptop and we tried. It works just fine and he used an extra connector because my security camera it comes from factory with only 5-1/2”. He told me that it would be even better with one connector less like it will be the case with the HXR-MC1 if we do it ourselves. It will work for sure, but and a big but is that the warranty will not cover the camera for doing so. As far as me goes, I will take 4 or 5 CX100 for the same price that this one anyday. Blue skies, Ish.
  6. Will do my friend, and thanks for the tip. I have full cover on the camera but who knows anyway. You're right. Thank again, Ish.
  7. Thank you velocityphoto. I will just try it out a couple of times before return it. By the way my profile is there, I didn't put the number of jumps, because I will have to change it everyother day or at least every week. (I see people with over 5K jumps and the profile still saying 1200) About the years in the sport, I didn't say anything, because I don't know what to write (3 years with USPA? 10 years air force? 13 years total?) The profile doesn’t allow you to say much. Thank you, Blue skies, Ish.
  8. Thanks again, and yes I can search for the link myself but I thought that maybe you have it, sorry about that. The problem is that I didn't bought the camera, it was a present, so I rather search a little more before return it. As a matter of fact I would like to find someone who could fix my PC-1000 because in my personal opinion, I repeat, in my personal opinion it is one of best cameras for the sport. Blue skies, Ish.
  9. Thanks for the reply. I guees I have only 2 options then; return the camera and buy a different one, or power it up on the ground which it will kill my battery every two jumps or so. Question: What about power the camera up about let's say 8K? Do you think that will work? Thanks and let me know if you find the link. Blue skies, Ish.
  10. I called Sony and I told them about my intentions on the camera’s use. They told me as you said, that they don’t recommend taking a HHD camera above 10K only if you use the HHD to record, but that I can use it using the memory stick to record on it instead. I don’t know if it is true or not. That’s why she bought the camera for me with full cover including drops, etc. I always can return the camera within 90 days, that’s why I am asking if someone used before. Thanks for your reply. Blue skies, Ish.
  11. Hi everyone!! I normally jump with a PC-1000, but I’m having problems with it lately, so as a surprise for Valentine’s Day I got a Sony DCR-SR220. It is a sweet video camera with 60GB and 41 hours of recording, as well as it has memory S. and Steady Shot and the S.Pics are very good. It is a nice and good camera, but I would like to know if someone of you used for Skydive and what do you think about it. I read online some comments about it, but I don’t know anyone who used yet. Thank you. Blue skies, Ish http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665291492
  12. Hi there!! I am not a pro and maybe I will never be, but I can tell you that Skydive is like a diet. Let me explain it to you; some diets works for some people but that doesn’t mean that it works for all the people, same thing with Skydive. In other words; what works for me maybe it is the worst for you. I read all the replies to your comment and all of them are right, but again, probably they don’t work for you. First of all, you need to no worry about getting low at this point (you only have 100+ jumps). Second, you don’t need to be so hard on yourself, and third, as long as you are safe for you and your team that’s all that matters for now. Wind Tunnel is very good, but there is not the magic solution for fall rates, that’s for sure. Jumpsuits are good, but once again there isn’t the magic solution and I know that for a fact. I jump with people who are 6’-5” and almost 300lb and sometimes they jump in shorts and T-shirt and can go as slow as 98m/h or as fast as 148m/h, so I know that the miracle it isn’t the wind tunnel or the clothing. The miracle is you and your position in free fall, period, the other things help, but they are not going to make you a bird. Believe it or not, the best solution, if it is possible, it will be for you to go with some friends to a different DZ for a weekend or so (that will take off the “stress” that you are putting on yourself while jumping over and over in the same place and listening over and over to the same comments). While in the other DZ, listen to other Skydivers and their “tricks”; because normally when you are always in the same DZ “almost” everyone will tell you the same things or they will send you to someone in particular to tall with (remember that not the same tricks works for all of us). Make as many jumps you can during your stay there and practice with your friends your fall rate, then practice with one of your friends or other skydiver one on one and try to copy with the other does and if possible try to have a video of your jumps in other to analyze them after each jump and see what you did “wrong” instead of being hard on your self. I can tell you that I just came from a trip with 7 other skydivers’ friends and one of them had lots of trouble with his fall rate and getting all the time below us, but after some jumping was me who had to “get big” in order to go back up to him. This guy when from falling faster than me being in a sit to being able to maintain his falling rate with me and he is over 40lb heavier than me and 100’s of jumps less than me. He was jumping with us and then with one of the group who is a very experience skydiver one on one and believe me when I say that the trip helps him a lot and most than anything it was because he was in a different DZ than normal he is. Now back home he can stay in the formation with not a problem and with different jumpers. I hope this works for you.
