  1. I dunno I have a GFX and haven't had a problem with it. Some of the info I see in the reviews is wrong. You CAN set your own starting point (jump number) for the logger. It DOES have adjustable volume. Navigating the screens was a bit of a bitch at first, but was fine once I used it a couple of times and got used to what key strokes were needed. I'm not sure why none of the companies are using a micro SD card on their loggers but it sure would be nice.

  2. I hate the name of this thread. The votes weren't "found". These weren't ballots that were "lost" or anything like that. They aren't votes that were "changed". It was a simple mistake of the clerk that didn't hit "save" on a spreadsheet. And worse yet a media, party, and candidate that all relied on preliminary UNOFFICIAL vote results. In a race this close you'd have to be a flippin idiot to come out and declare victory with a lead of 200 unofficial preliminary totals. For those that pay attention the final official vote tallies aren't canvased and official for at least a day typically. The AP and media were quick to blab about how "voters sent a message" and blah blah.... they sure are silent now about the REAL majority that sent the message.

  3. So what type of "personal property" are we talking here? There is a big difference between the private property of a store for example, who at large invites the general public on their property, and the private personal property of an individual. This has been hashed out in the courts. I'm in no mood to crawl the web looking for sources, but I have read this numerous times in legal briefs. The first example I could find was an interview with Judge Napalitano who goes into the differences of private property rights when it comes to 2A.

    They should.

Legalize it and other drugs. Have the DEA be a bit more on QC.

Actually roll the DEA and ATF together.

Tax the drugs at the same rate as booze.

Make the age to buy and use the same.

I say the Feds cross the line and make a Federal law about the age of majority/consumption. Make it 18.

    One standard across the board.

Buy a fifth, roll a pinner, pay taxes and join the Military all in one day.

I agree nearly 100%. I personally have a hard time with the 18 years old age. Although I do support a 19 year old age. The difference is simply high school. At 18 years old a lot of people are still in high school. Although i'm not stupid, and know that alcohol is prevalent at high school parties (gos knows I consumed a lot) and it really probably wouldn't change too much with 1 years difference, I still have a hard time swallowing that a person still attending high school could go sit in a bar.

  5. Some of goose island stuff is pretty good. If you come north of the border look for new glarus stuff. I am a pretty avid new glarus brewery drinker. Also like some of the stuff out of point (stevens point), minhas (monroe), capital (madison), and of Grays right here in Janesville. Grays has an awesome "bully porter". I definately believe in "Drink Local"!

  6. I'm not too convinced on the accuracy of those charts. Having spent a lot of time jumping cessna 182's, I tend to glance at the thermometer on the wing a lot. Typically I've seen a 1-3 degree/1000' drop. A couple weeks ago I jumped it was like 35-40 on the ground and around 25 at 11k. And the wind chill charts i've seen show that the wind chill effect drops off quite a bit in the speeds above like 40mph. It is not a perfectly linear relationship. Having jumped in the winter, i've learned the main thing is to just make sure you don't have exposed skin. The only thing that gets real cold is your fingers under canopy.

The jumper's job is to guarantee their survival. The machine's job is to mitigate, not eliminate, some of the risk when when the jumper fails.

True Wendy, but the AAD manufacturers are now falling prey to their own myths. Myths they helped perpetuate in the effort to convince people that jumping sans AAD was not a good idea. We've come full circle and now people are expecting the use of an AAD will prevent them from becoming a fatality. [:/]

You see the same thing in motorcycling, some people strap on helmet and ride like they are invincible.

I work in a food production plant too. The last few pairs i've bought has been timberlands. They have a titanium toe in them. This makes them extremely light, as light as some pairs of sneakers i've got. Which helps big time with fatigue. They are made with a leather that is pretty soft so it doesn't have to be "worn in". These also have electrical protection. (required for me because i'm in skilled trades.) They have lasted me over a year, up to two, per pair. Also a good choice that I had one time was something made by georgia boot that has rubber up about two inches from the bottom of the sole, so it is nice if your in an area that has puddles and such where water would normally get in just over the sole seam.

Georgia boot only way to go. Comfortable from the gito . Fuck Redwing. Breaking em in is misery.

Yea they were pretty nice. This was the pair I had when I was really working in the sloppy areas of the plant a lot. http://www.georgiaboot.com/products/4135/1600G6633/Georgia-Muddog-Waterproof-Steel-Toe-Work-Boots/

  9. It's funny seeing the span of answers, it's like asking what the best ice cream flavor is. Personally I bought two pairs of red wings, dif models, and they were the most god awful uncomfortable pairs of boots I ever had. I gave them time to try to wear in but they just didn't. The one pair literally tore up the sides of my feet. As for the negative comments about timberlands...well if you buy boots at foot locker or a chain store, well then yes they are going to be some hip non working boot thats meant for fashion. Kinda like comparing the dickies clothes at the mall skater's store zoomies to those you would find in a uniform store. I've bought my timberlands at stores that sell working stuff and they bear no resemblance to those you'd find at a fashion outlet, besides a logo.

I've used this cheepo $40 thing from wal mart for like three years now. I fit my rig, two jump suits, and all the other crap in it fine. I just hang my helmet bag off the handle. No signs of wear and it's held up great.

  12. I ride with patriot guard and no you don't have to be a christian. You don't have to ride a harley, you don't have to be a veteran. All you have to do is support the people that have served and show up and participate! All you have to do to join is go to the web site and sign up. You are then sent e-mails of "missions" in your area with meet times, places, etc.

  13. In my fresh off aff days I packed a step through once. I, like you, was pretty confused at first but them realized what was wrong. I did full controllability check and everything worked fine so I landed it. It's honestly up to you whether you did the right thing. I think opinions would be pretty much split down the middle. It's a damned if you do damned if you don't scenario. Chalk it up to a learning experience. You do something like that once (and get away with it) and scare the shit outa yourself you prob won't do it again.

  14. I think they'd be miserable for long bike rides. The foam is a fairly dense foam that would feel like blocks on your ass. They are designed for sharp impacts with small dense objects. Like features you would find in the park at ski/snowboard places and when you wipe out on a bike around ramps or if you get hit by the bike wiping out. I use them when skiing in the park. They work very well for taking shocks when you lose it on a rail or box and come down ass first on the edge of said object. But it still hurts like hell when you land on something like the solid ice that can be at the foot of boxes and rails. They aren't especially comfortable on the chair rides back up.

  15. In my opinin the senators should be rounded up and jailed per WI statute 946.12 which reads:

    946.12

946.12 Misconduct in public office. Any public officer or public employee who does any of the following is guilty of a Class I felony:

    946.12(1)

    (1) Intentionally fails or refuses to perform a known mandatory, nondiscretionary, ministerial duty of the officer's or employee's office or employment within the time or in the manner required by law...

If she likes to drive fast, she needs to visit a race track and take the BMW out for some DE track days. Trust me she will never view driving fast on the public roads the same way again. Once someone gets to drive a car at their limits on a race track, they will realize driving fast on the public roads is silly and sometimes very dumb. Technically I still speed on the public roads. But going 120-130 kph in a 110 kph zone is not fast. Going 220+ kph and in the space of 400 feet braking hard to make a turn at 140 kph ... now that is where the action is at. :)

Yup gotta agree. I've had sportbikes since I was 17.(about 12 years) and rode very hard and crazy on the street. I finally decided to start trying some track days. I was hooked on the track after that. I hardly ever drive hard on the street anymore. I'm almost scared to ride out on the street now awy from the "sanitary" comtrolled confines of the track.

Almost finished reading A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson. An extremely funny travel memoir about two guys who hike the Appalachian Trail. I highly recommend it.

Read it last year. Loved it!

Just got done with "the art of racing in the rain". It was a decent book.

Just started "Shop class as soulcraft". This has been very good read so far too. Its a book about the skillled trades, how they are overlooked, and how schools have consistantly steered children away from skilled trades and taught children to kind of look down upon the people working in the field of skilled trades. This all even though the intelligence needed to get into the skilled trades is often higher than that required to get into most colleges. I work in skilled trades (industrial controls electrician and automation programming) and many people in my family in past and present generations do too, so it's tripped my trigger a bit.

  18. I thought the pepsico ones were best, especially doritos. But then I work for Frito Lay so I'm a little biased. lol. I don't know if everyone realizes it, but all of the pepsico spots are those that were made and submitted by consumers. They got sick of paying money to ad agencies that just made mediocre ads that weren't well recieved. (bud this year?) So a few years ago they asked consumers to submit commercials that they made themselves. They are voted upon and then the winners are aired. If your commerical is ranked in the top 3 in the voting on super bowl day than you win $1 million. If the top three are pepsico commercials than the creators of the three commercials get awarded $5 million to split three ways. Check out "crashthesuperbowl.com" to see all of the ones that were submitted.

  19. Sounds like a good addition to the party. I'm not a home brewer (yet). But I drink nothing but craft and micro so I have a nice stock saved up for today. Thats the great part about WI, there is no shortage of good craft and micro breweries.
Hopefully in the next year or two I'm going to start building a home brew set up. One of the corporate guys I work with has quite an elaborate set-up with an allen bradley PLC running his and everything.

  20. Having a big ass party and watching the pack bring the Lombardi trophy home to the real title town!! :P The mood here in Wisconsin is nothing short of electric! I was lucky enough to spend all day at Lambeau Filed yesterday partying.

  21. Hmmm you live in a seedy neighborhood and you are a know drug dealer. Could those guys busting down your door be a group of tweakers or gangbangers yelling "police-search warrant" to get you to let your guard down so that they can get into the house and rob you? Could the people that quickly yelled "police search warrant" be someone coming to attack you and kill you over a bad drug deal?
This tactic has been used by gangbangers and robbers to get people to let their guard down and let people in, only to be victimized. The other problem is how many times have you heard of cops getting the wrong address? So now lets change the scenario and say the cops got the wrong address and are knocking down the wrong person's door with a no knock warrant. They now have shot someone that was simply half awake that may not have heard the warrant claim and is simply protecting his family or property.
It's doubtful this guy clearly heard the "police search-warrant" through a door and most likely while he was asleep. What is likely is that he woke up to some muffled yelling and his door getting busted in so he did exactly what 90% of us would do and responded by trying to protect his property with the assumption that he was about to be robbed or victimized. I know if I woke up to the sound of people fucking around my house, muffled yelling, and then my door coming down I'd likely respond with a pistol or shot gun in my hand.
I realize the cops are trying to work with the advantage of surprise, because typically it's easy to take someone into custody when they are half asleep and unprepared for your visit. But they also have to realize that people by nature are going to try to protect their property and may not clearly hear you making the claim of your warrant, and also may not know for sure and have no way to confirm that you are actually the cops. I relly think it's time to examine other tactics than to knock people's door down in the middle of the night and "hope" everything goes smoothly, and "Hope" they hear and comprehend that it's the cops at the door and not somoene trying to victimize them.

  22. Jared was a deranged violent person. When you take the gun out of a violent deranged persons hand you are still left with a violent deranged person. When are we going to start dealing with the sources of the problem instead of the inanimate tool they use to carry out their deranged issues? Someone hell bent on killing a group of people standing outside a store can do it with a pipe bomb (atlanta olympics), driving a vehicle into the group (culver city CA 3/16/06), or any other means of ending peoples life. Judging by whats been released of this guys writings he would have found a way to carry out his attack even if he didn't have a gun.
