  2. Punishment for drunk driving should be terrible, it's reckless and people die often from it.

Punishment shouldn't ever be scaled based on income though. While I'm sure many think this is fair because this way you'll *hurt* everyone proportionally with the punishment.. that *seems* fair, but it hardly is.

Well Im 16 years old and i'v been going to the Dz with my dad fopr a couple months now. I never thought about skydiving as a hobbie or even as a sport for that matter. But once i watched my dad jump It was something i've been Dying to do!! I've been going nuts aboutthis idea since last Christmas so my dad made a deal with me. I have to have a 3.7 GPA to jump....and i have to pay for my jumps. Well, i did a little math((and believe me , i hate math)) but i found that in order to have a 3.7 GPA id have to have straight As and a C in Chemistry.. Um yah... Never goin to happen!! So he was understanding and sain i could get a 3.5 and a C in chemistry. So im working Hard for the past 2 1/2 weeks and my grades have ALL come up but not to these standards.... Im not sure if ill ever get to jump....what should i do??? Or say???

If you write better I'm sure you'll grades will improve.

There is nothing funny about a country that can find 10 billion a month for a war built on a false premise (weapons of mass destruction) but cannot find the money to have univerdsl health care Something we in Aust had had since 1975. (Costs me around $700 per year in taxes) " Oh but you cannot let the government run health care "... better to have insurance companies that make obscene amounts of money by providing the least amount of care as possible.(what about the sick people who cannot get insurance.) Yup the USA were great in WW2 but its been down hill ever since. Now borrowing money from China unbelieveable ! Its not slander its the facts. I hope Obama turns it around. its not pissing on you.. the fact that we live way better than most of your citizens. The USA is a great place for a holiday and the people are great but I am glad I do not live there.

So in summary.. what you meant you wrote was: there's nothing funny about a country that has different values that my country, because Australia is #1 and everyone should be like us!!!

  5. I have a Mamba. If i were to buy again.. I'd get either a Z1 or a Mamba. They are both good helmets and have solid flip up visors. I think the Z1 looks better than the Mamba.. but they are both good helmets and good choices.

I've never had the Mamba fog on me enough to effect the skydive or canopy ride except once on a high pull, but all I had to do was crack it open and it was just fine after a few seconds.. i wouldn't let it deter you, but I have heard of people who have had fogging issues with the visor..

  6. I did a search and I know I've seen threads on this topic before.. but what is the going resale formula for main canopies?

I think I remember seeing once, 80% of retail price minus $1 per jump? Assuming good/excellent condition and all. Thanks for your help.

I've got a Pilot 168 with 100 jumps (give or take) that I'd like to sell at a fair price and I'm trying to figure it out. Guessing $1430 or so is fair?

  7. I've got a Mamba but don't have a huge melon or anything.. fits great. I have trouble wearing sunglasses underneath it and it is hard to talk.

If I was to buy again.. I might consider the Z1.. however, I've never heard of a Mamba coming open in freefall..

  8. My friends (5 of us total) and I used SAS travel. We had 2 guides and about 9 other people in the group with us. They provided everything except for a sleeping bag I think, oh, and the alcohol.

We're 5 college aged kids in the military living in Colorado, so the hike was pretty easy for us and we often were way ahead of the other people in our group except for the first day when they want you to stay together.

Our tour guides were awesome, very knowledgeable and it was very evident they were passionate about their work and enjoyed it. I can't remember the cost per person, but I'm pretty sure it was reasonable.

It was a great trip and very breathtaking. Here is the companies website: http://www.sastravelperu.com/

I'd recommend the hotel they operate too, cheap rates but very nice rooms and great service. If you have any questions, let me know.

  9. What about when the student has a hard pull and goes to reserve while he's falling through the main AAD deployment range?

I know you should cut-away first anyhow, but students might not do that...

  10. What specifically scares you? Discuss this with your instructors.

Is it that the parachute won't open or you'll have equipment problems? See if you can learn how to pack and then watch the packers pack your parachute, you'll see it was done properly and it'll be fine.

Is it the landings? Work with your instructors, remind them how it went last time, get advice and then get a thorough debriefing as to how it went this time.

Is it the freefall? Afraid you won't accomplish the manuevers? That's what it seems to me, you don't want to "waste" money on jumps. Maybe you need more tunnel time, if you're able to do fine in the tunnel, there's no reason you shouldn't be doing fine in AFF. What specifically are your instructors telling you that is causing you to fail your jumps?

Give us some more specifics and we'll give you answers tailored to you.

  11. You still haven't really stated why they failed you.

Can you give us more details? I feel like a large part of the story is missing here.. and I'd demand that $200 back (assuming you're entitled to it). That's about 1/6 the cost of AFF at another DZ.
