  1. Do it. It will be a blast. As others said, you don't have to worry about pushing yourself out. I don't remember how I even left the plane on my first tandem. The instructor will get you out. I did have to do certain things on my first - body position and arching, altitude checks and pulling my own parachute. This scared the hell out of me, becuase I had planed on getting so scared and passing out and having the instructor save my life. I did forget everything for the second I was staring out the airplane, but a second after freefall started, I started calming down and remembered everything...and it was amaaazing....and it was supposed to be a one time thing, and here I sit on a skydiving forum counting down the days til my next jump. So, again, do it! Even if you hate it (you won't), you'll feel so great about overcoming such a great fear.
  2. thanks for the info sraja! one question - I was under the impression that you needed 25 jumps for the lincense, but it seems the AFP program only includes 18..I figured you'd have to make 7 jumps after....am I totally off on thinking this?
  3. Hi all, I recently did a couple of tandem jumps and would like to continue skydiving because I absolutely loved it. I would like to go through AFF training. I did my jumps at Skydive Chicago and thought it was a great place. However, I am about the same distance from Skydive Chicago, Chicagoland Skydiving, and Skydive Midwest. I have searched through this forum and have seen people saying great things about all these DZs esp. SDC. But has anyone gone through their programs and have any input. I would default to just sticking with SDC since I felt comfortable there but if theres a reason to make a different choice, I don't want to miss out on that just because of my arbitrary reason for originally choosing SDC (the one I had heard about before). Any input on any of these places in terms of a. price and value b. instrutor attention to students c. friendliness ( i am concerned about always feeling like an outside since the friends i brought along for tandem jumps will soon leave me to continue on this path alone) Thanks in advance, all!
