  4. So i hit a wall in my AFF progression. I was not able to keep stable and my legs were all over the place. I tried 4 times to pass my AFF with the turns and forward motion. Last weekend I tried it 3 times in the same day and failed every time. I was pretty bummed. My instructor OJ told me to do wall drills and practice my arch on the ground. I went back out yesterday and just felt like I should do a relaxing jump. No turns nothing. I just wanted to fall and feel how a good jump felt like. It was amazing! I was stable and everything felt great! After i landed I went on to do my turns. Passed it no problems. I was a little unstable on the exit because of kicking but that was it. Then I did my backflip while also doing my first solo exit. I was a little squirly on my exit but I never flipped over or anything. The backflip went ok but I didn't really do it right but I still got myself unstable and then recovered in time to chase my AFF-I to. All in all it was an AWESOME day and I have NEVER had that much fun jumping! It's so much better when your relaxed and just there to have fun! Blue Skies! 5. That would not have been a fun tandem to be on! LOL I was jumping a PD 210 last weekend and it was REALLY hard on the openings! I didn't pack it as I am still a student and don't know how but my last jump I did opened really hard and i was feeling it for a day afterwords! That was just a bad jump all together though. During that same jump I almost chopped it because of another mal. that happened later on. Josh Q: Why would someone ever want to jump from a perfectly good airplane? A: Why Not?
  6. HAHA yeah I read your post about your experience. And your thought right before you chopped was what I was thinking as well! In a way I sort of wish I would have cut it just to see what it was like and get that extra "training" if you want to call it that but then I am also glad I didn't have to go to my final option of saving my life. 7. Last weekend I was out at out local DZ trying to finish up my student status jumps. (I didn't pass them because I can't seem to get my legs to do what they are supposed to but thats a different story) Anyways on my 3rd jump that day, also being my 13th total jump, I pulled at 4500 and had a parachute at 4000. I was flying a PD 210 (it was a rental rig). Anyways all was well at first. I did my controllability check and everything was fine so I started to do some turns and whatnot just having a good time. Then around 2800-2900 feet I went into another sharp turn and about 1/2 way around something didn't feel right. I felt myself falling again so I let up off the toggle and looked up. What I saw I didn't like at all! The whole right side of my parachute was collapsed. Because of this that caused the rest of my parachute to start spinning which gave me a bunch of line twists (4-5). I chcked my alt. and realized I had about 300 ft to try and get out of this (decision limit is 2500 ft at our DZ) so I tried to kick out of it and couldn't get it to start untwisting. I then put my hand on my cut away handle and literally I was within a second of chopping it I got hit with a gust of wind and the parachute started to un-twist itself so I helped it out and got out of them and had a nice soft landing. So yeah... Don't really want to do that again. What I think happened was that I got into a dust devil right as I went into my turn and that just screwed everything over. Blue Skies! Josh P.S. Thanks Dave for the good training and instructing!!!! I will get a case of Root Beer for you next time I'm out there since I can't buy real beer yet. 8. Thats cool! I wish we had a tunnel somewhere around Spokane. I did my first free fall on Sat. and It was good expect for my leg position. I had them to close to my body. Had he let go I would have flipped. And I moved my leg a little when I went to pull but that all went well. It was an awesome jump! I can't wait to do it again! Josh Q: Why would someone ever want to jump from a perfectly good airplane? A: Why Not?
  9. HAHA you guys are all great! Well I will have to pick up some rootbeer then. LOL Josh Q: Why would someone ever want to jump from a perfectly good airplane? A: Why Not?
  10. HAHA Yeah I realized I said... that one word... A lot in that post. I would but I am only 19 so I can't buy it. LOL Josh Q: Why would someone ever want to jump from a perfectly good airplane? A: Why Not?
  11. Yup, I did my first hop-n-pop today and lets just say it was interesting! First off I have not had anything go wrong in any of my jumps so far, but that all changed today. LOL Anyways I jumped from 4500ft to do my first real pull. When I let go of the plane I was so concentrated on getting that parachute out that I sort of forgot to arch. So I started kicking. Well after I started kicking I flipped over on my back and ended up throwing my PC out and looked down and saw it at my feet. At that point I was thinking, "Oh geez this is not good! " Well it ended up NOT getting tangled on my feet so it flipped me over and then I got 3 line twists (which I had never gotten before). Once i kicked out of those all was good. I had a great landing except for the fact that there was 1 tree in our landing field that is about 4 feet tall and I managed to land right next to it and then the parachute landed in the tree. All in all it was a great jump, a little shoken up, but no big deal. Tomorrow I am doing my first AFF jump! I can't wait for that!!! Thanks again Dave and Roy! You guys rock!!!
