QuoteI just spoke to Dave Brown and he believes that the 24 is official.
From http://www.uspa.org/default_copy(1).htm#worldrecord:QuoteNew World Record Category and New World Record (02/14/03)
USPA received notice from FAI Judge Stefania Martinengo that a new world record was set February 10 at Skydive Sebastian, Florida, when 24 skydivers formed the largest head-down formation. Linked with arm grips, the formation held for 7.4 seconds, according to Martinengo's report. Documentation has been forwarded to the National Aeronautic Association for transmission to the Federation International Aeronautique in Lausanne, Switzerland for confirmation. -
QuoteNo,
The Aerodyne was a modified three ring. The middle ring is elongated like an oval with a divider bar in the middle.
Found this technical article with diagrams and pictures on the Aerodyne website -
QuoteHey guys, I don't know if this has gotton around yet or not but this month's maxim has a spread on girls who do extreme sports, one of which is Lottie Aston - a fine base jumper.
Are you sure it's this month? A Maxim article has been around for a while. -
Nice video, I was going to say less is more but I think it works ;-)
Weridly, Steven Henderson has just uploaded his WFFC edit (36.7 MB) to skydivingmovies.com
Phree, can I put your vid up there too? -
Quotep.s. send me your ProTrack files and I'll put them up on www.JumpTrack.com!
Gus has sent me some of his data and it's now available here. If anybody else would like their data available on jumptrack.com then send me your files (remember all 3 files - *.MB, *.DB, *.PX from the Jumps sub-directory and zipped up please) -

QuoteBut it takes a 5 second freefall to make the protrack realise that you left the airplane.
Actually, it's "more than 7 seconds" i.e. 8.QuoteThe user manual shows how to increase your jumps logged.
Yes, it's on page 18 of the ProTrack manual under Setting the Logbook Totals. You do as you would for setting your jump numbers when you first got your ProTrack. In the Mode selector, page by pressing the Mode button until you reach the Logbook (Totals) page.QuotePress and release the Set button three times, and wait. After a few seconds the display changes and Jump No. starts flashing.
The SET button now operates as follows:
When SET is pressed and held, the numbers count up. To change direction of counting, release SET and press hold again.
1. Press SET to count to accumulated number of jumps.
2. Press MODE, then SET to count to accumulated hours of freefall
3. Press MODE, then SET to count to accumulated minutes of freefall
4. Press MODE, then SET to count to accumulated seconds of freefall -
I'd like to draw your attention to this post I made and in particular to this graph which plots a helmet mounted ProTrack against two laterally mounted ProTracks for the during the same wingsuit jump. As you can see, the variation is wide, probably due to movement of the head (looking left and right) and moving the ProTrack into and out of differently pressured air.
I've just noticed that the time period between the peaks and the troughs is approximately 6 seconds and it's approximately the same on your graph. Six seconds is the period of time that a ProTrack buffers and averages freefall profile data over. I wonder if it is a coincidence? -
QuoteSteffen finally returned home from Florida, and he sent me a replacement Interface unit, and everything works fine now. He also added some extra goodies too: an extra-large tee-shirt, an embroidered logo patch, some logo stickers, and two sets of batteries for the ProTrack audible.
Nice.QuoteHow's that for service?
From L&B? Typical! :-) -
QuoteI'm confused as to how they expect me to use the software after I buy the serial from them if they don't sell the cable seperate??
I believe before the ProTrack came out JumpTrack was, and still can be used as, an ordinary logbook program, without the the freefall profile data.QuoteOh, and apology accepted since you had that at the end of your message
Cool :-) -
QuoteHow much is it to buy just the PC-link connector and where from!??
The cable isn't available separately from the software; it's an effective piracy deterrent. Shame on you if you were thinking it would be cheaper to just buy the cable and copy the software and serial code from a friend! L&B are good guys. They'll change your old ProTrack to one with a SLO mode for free so don't try and bilk them for the software. If you weren't thinking that then I apologise! -
Gus, too bad we didn't get any skyflying done together; want to jump with you before you leave me in the dust! But I think it might have slowed us down for the £100 weekend and we wanted toget our money's worth!
Not going to be back up for at least a couple of weeks though :-(
Edit: p.s. send me your ProTrack files and I'll put them up on www.JumpTrack.com! -
Just to reiterate, if anyone wants to send me their ProTrack databases (the three files, *.DB, *.MD, *.PX from the Jumps directory), I'd be happy to host them on www.jumptrack.com.Using this website you can chart graphs dynamically online and even overlay multiplegraphs to compare jumps with previous ones. -
QuoteThere is a limit of 25 users on the site, and each user is limited to 3 concurrent connections.
Andy, perhaps it's time to limit each user to only 1 concurrent connection? Should make more people happy more of the time... -
I've recorded the stream and uploaded it to ftp://ftp.skydivingmovies.com/UPLOADS/19434.asf (will eventually move - do we think destined for the /From TV/ or /Tandem/ directory?)
Wow, looks COLD!
Also looks a bit uncomfortable with the second passenger attached to the Tandem Instructor. When Geoff, Wendy and Sian did it, wasn't the second passenger clipped to the first who was in turn clipped to the TI? -
Not the first time. Geoff Woods did this with Wendy Smith and Sian Thompson (early 90s?). Still, would be interested to see pictures and especially video! -
QuoteThanks Craig. I think I'm gonna try just using my Garmin V attached to my chest strap.
Have you tried it there before? I think it's going to be pretty shielded from the satellites by your body and you'll have trouble getting a lock. Think you are going to have to extend the antenna up to your helmet. Also, you'll have trouble getting a lock in the plane. Either sit by the window and hold the unit or antenna to it so it has a clear view of the sky (not under the wing) or ask the pilot to pop it on his dash. -
QuoteI normally jump in the UK and this will be my first trip jumping abroad.
Beer! I'll be at "Langr" this weekend so you'll be able to pay up!QuoteDoes anyone have any suggestions as to the best place to get some insurance from? And are there any points that I should note?!
If you wait a couple of days, I do believe there will be an article in the next edition of the Skydive Mag with regards to Insurance. The magazine should be hitting your postbox over the weekend. They'll probably be a fair few editions around the DZ. You might also like to check out the previous magazine where I had a little grumble on the Letters page about the attitude of Harrison-Beaumont which may affect your decision to send any of your business their way! -
QuoteScott, the most techie GPS guys I know in this forum are Craig Poxon and maybe Fordy. I am sure one of them will pipe up in a minute
I was going to but he poo-pooed my "squiggly lines" so now I'm sulking :-P
Was having a brief conversation with Hooknswoop about this the other day. I've had some good results from OziExplorer which produces a nice track profile, but it seems that the latest freebie version doesn't have that function available? I'm unable to test this as I don't want to lose the version I've got installed if this is true and don't have a spare machine at the moment.
I tried playing with the 3D version for a visualisation but with no success. I've emailed the authors to see what they know.
I'm sure I posted something about this before when Yuri supplied me with some of his data before I had my own Skyflyer, but I've not been able to find it?! I had attached several pictures of combinations of the track profile. Their production required a little bit of tweaking; manually determing the start and the end of the freefall to trim the graph left and right with the scroll bars, setting a nice scale, as well as vertically.
I've attached a couple of graphs generated from Yuri's data which should satisfy Scott/Lou (I thought he was really Lou Diamond Phillips! :-P) where the speeds and distances covered are apparent. Both measurements are for the horizontal vector. A ProTrack download will give you a graph of both of the vertical vectors (I think OziExplorer will only do this for distance not speed). -
Don't know what you're talking about, that link works perfectly.
What edit? Oh that was for a minor spelling mistake :-P -
Quotehow do i do that? i have the EQ... but Just started using jump track software....
Oops, sorry, the link I posted was broken. This is the correct link
This is not standard JumpTrack functionality but something that Falko worked out himself. Haven't tried this myself yet, but intend to when I get a chance and some good data. It's ideal for a video like this, i.e. a solo jump where this isn't a great deal to look at or gauge the flying of the jumper with. -

QuotePro track seemed to think his speed was about 68 in full glide. They will download it to the software, and see what that says.
I'd love a copy of that data to put up on www.jumptrack.com
How about taking up a GPS such as the Garmin eTrex Vista too?
Skyflyer-3 BASE
in Wing Suit Flying
Medium version from Robert's handcam (3.06 MB)
Medium version from the top (4.85 MB)
Big version from Robert's handcam (8.85 MB)
Big version from the top (12 MB)
About the flight in Robi's own words,
"The flight were fast and around 53 sec w opening at 300m also I passed the creek and flew paralel w the creek for some time"
Absolutely awesome! The shot from the top is most impressive as you get a real perception of him
tracking the creek! And 300m is nearly 1000 feet!!! i.e. 1/4 of the maximum available altitude unused!
You can get some brief glimpses of how big the wings are on the new suit and it looks a little bit skaty during the initial flight!
Robert's brother Boris is trying to send me some stills from the DV that may show this a little better. I'll post them when I get them.
