1. Hello all,

I would really appreciate it if you guys (and gals:) voted for my entry, or any entry for that matter in this photo contest, benefiting "The Gift from Heart Foundation - an organization, here in Chicago helping disabled children from around the world. Here is the my entry:

https://apps.facebook.com/offerpop/Contest.psp?c=54501&u=13809&a=218140784873215&p=162344937127989&rest=0&v=View (Edit: the direct link doesn't seem to be working. I'm the third row down, first picture - "Rafal, Chicago"). But again, you can vote for any entry you'd like, as what we're really trying to do is raise awareness about the Gift from the Heart Foundation, to more people. Also, if you click 'like' on Facebook and spread the word to your friends I'd greatly appreciate it.

Here is the Foundation's website: http://www.darserca.org/

Basically, the organization helps disabled children from around the world, by helping them come to the United States to receive medical treatment/surgery. They are also very involved in the community by running various programs in the community, such as after school programs. A lot of the kids get their care at Shriners Hospital, which is a not-for-profit hospital also, but in many cases that Shriners does not specialize in other hospitals are involved as well. A note summing 2011, and what is ahead in 2012 can be found here: http://www.darserca.org/index.php/2012/01/06/a-good-year/

I mysef am disabled, as most of you know, and I would not be doing the things I am today if it wasn't for the care I have recieved. Anything you can spare is greatly appreciated and it goes a long way; it all counts. Doesn't matter if it's so much as $1.00. Everything helps. This photo contest ends tonight, at midnight, central standard time. Thank you in advance!! :)

Long time lil bro...how ya been? B|

Doing pretty good, can't complain. Alive and breathing, and that's good...depending on who you ask, lol. :D For the most part, I'm just staying busy with school so I can finish as quickly as possible.

I've been meaning to call you; I hate this part of me that is so terrible at keeping in touch, I really have to work on it! I've been meaning to call you for the longest time (and that goes for you too, Mark), but the more time that went by, the worse I felt - so the more I put it off. That makes sense, right? :S[:/]

How are you? I hope all is well. I hope you're going to be in town over the holidays, it would be great to catch up! B|:)

  5. Hello all,

Wow, its been forever and a day since I posted in this forum! I'm glad to see all the names are still familiar. :)
Nothing to eventful has been up with me; I'm still just finishing college - 3 semesters to go though and I'm done with Undergrad. I'm really considering Grad school immediately afterwards, but am afraid to take on the debt that goes with it. Currently, I'm finishing the "Communication, Media & Theatre" program at Northeastern Illinois University, and hopefully I can land a decent job. If not than my only choice is to indeed start Grad school right away. Getting licensed is still very much a goal of mine,it's just been put on the back burner.

Speaking of skydiving - I have one very serious question: does anyone know someone who jumps with a colostomy bag, a.k.a. a shit bag? I'm thinking air pressure would be a problem because it would make the bag explode. The reason I ask is because my dad died of colon cancer, and it turned out to be genetic, therefore I have what is called "familial adenomatous polyposis". Basically, what that means is, one of my tumor suppressor genes, known as an APC gene is mutated and thus not working correctly. As a result, pre-cancerous polyps are forming; currently I have just over 100 poolyps (as of last year anyway), and anyone of them could become malignant at any moment. Statistically, 87% of people that have this genetic mutation have colon cancer by age 40, rather than age 50, 60, or 70 as is the case under normal circumstances. So, the doctors say that my only option is surgery. Now honestly, I don't want it; I think I can beat his damn ting via other, non-conventional ways. Nevertheless, I'm considering surgery as a last resort. Problem is, it's so life-altering; changing every aspect of your life - not just [potentially] barring you from skydiving for example. And really, there are things worse than death...

So I was wondering if anyone knew someone who jumps with a bag.

(Mods: Please don't move this to the "skydivers with disabilities' forum. This latter part is just one portion of a general post, an will be viewed more here. Thanks).

  6. I need help - how do I avoid a duplicate post error on Craigslist?! [:/] I'm trying to post a lot of antique furniture for my friend, who has an upholstery business. He has a TON of it, & a lot of it is considerably expensive - so there is a potential for me to make quite a lot of money here. Problem is, a lot of the stuff is similar, so the titles are the same - and he told me to put the same description for everything, & to have potential buyers call him. I tried using different titles, but that hasn't worked - & I don't know much about the furniture itself - so not sure how to change up the descriptiopn. As it stands, craigslist wont let me make more than one post - and is therefore between me & my money. >:([:/]

By the way, that's a pretty fucked up sig line.

    it seems a little fragmented.

It wont let me fit it all; I meant to change it, but I haven't been on here got a few days. Yet another family funeral to deal with (3rd one in less than a year).

  8. I often lose stuff underneath the cushion of my wheelchair (everything from cell phone to keys). As of Labor Day Monday this year, I lost my glasses, & for the life of me I still can't find them. Ended up going to Costco to get a new pair. Note: as with everything else, Costco glasses cost A LOT LESS than glasses from a typical eye doctor. The lost pair cost me $410.00 (eye exam, frames & lenses), while all that at Costco cost $185.00... And these new ones are actually better quality & are more durable.

OK-from your first Oshkosh when the three of us were riding to or from one of the performer's parties. You had known Twardo and myself for a couple of hours and we told you.

"I think we'll just drag you behind a tree and fuck you-it's not like you're gonna run away"

It took you a few seconds to decide if you were going to laugh at that one-but you did. That's when we figured out you were going to be OK.

    :D

Now I just gotta figure out how to turn that into a sig line.

  14. Alright, I'm really asking for it with this thread (:D), but... I need a new sig line. My current one has been there for over a year.

By now, a lot of you know, or at least have met me personally - so come up with something that fits. Have fun. B|

I actually use iheartradio (free app for iphone/ipod touch) to listen to my favorite radio station from back in houston 94.5...

Completely free, seems to stream quite a few stations, just make sure you're on wifi or unlimited data.

I use I heartradio also. With unlimited data on T-Mobile, I've got tons of radio stations from everywhere. Waco Texas has a great station, KBGO.

    Works on a Blackberry also!

I love pandora. The one thing that has bummed me though is that sometimes the music selection can seem to get way off from the original search. Also when I first got my droid phone I was using it all the time in my truck, then about a month or so ago the sound quality DROPPED big time on my phone. Now the sound quality almost hurts to listen to, it sounds like very low bit rate. Very tinny and compressed sounding. Not such a big fan anymore.

Is the bit rate likewise low on your computer? You sure it's not just your phone?

Can you define a "skip" for a non-Pandora user?

If you don't like the song that's playing you skip to the next one.
