  1. I haven't jumped here but I know some of the people and they are a good ligit operation. Kept me from killing my self learning to land ;) All that is gold does not glitter, Not all who wander are lost.
  2. Hey piece of advice, it was 94 degrees here today. We are having a weird heat wave and hitting records even for AZ. It's dry heat and doesn't feel bad but it's still toasty for this late in the year. All that is gold does not glitter, Not all who wander are lost.
  3. Ok... thats helps. Thanks for the in depth opinion. Just making sure i know everything there is to know about it. Now just a test jump to make sure i don't break myself! All that is gold does not glitter, Not all who wander are lost.
  4. Thanks for all the advice so far! Does anyone know why the material is not made anymore is it packs easier? seems like if it packs easier and still flies well it would still be produced by someone even is the South African company went out of business. 5. Awesome, life span(aka resell value) was kinda what i was wondering about. Everyone seems to love their hornet just wanted to make sure the fabric wasn't gonna punk out on me at 400 or 500 jumps. All that is gold does not glitter, Not all who wander are lost.
  6. So I'm one of the many getting ready to buy my first canopy! Yay, excitingy woohoo for me. Now my questions... I've read a lot of good things about the Hornet, seems like it's fun to fly but easy enough to learn properly on, easy to pack, good openings etc. In the reviews people mentioned the 'different' fabric which results in a lower pack volume and a easy pack job; which sound wonderful to me, but how does this hold up over time? I'm looking at a used canopy with about 250 jumps so still fairly new. But what is anyone experience after a couple hundred more jumps? I will most likely keep it for at least a 100 or so jumps before down sizing. depending on how good of a canopy pilot i become. Any input is great Don't ya just LOVE newbie posts? 7. Yep Richland WA. I used to live right over the border in Oregon and i'm visiting and would love to jump while i'm up there. All that is gold does not glitter, Not all who wander are lost.
  8. I tried to call them to go jump in early Nov and have my friend do a tandem but both numbers are disconnected? All that is gold does not glitter, Not all who wander are lost.
  9. Man! I wish i had heard about this earlier and geared up to go I gotta find a kick ass gathering to pop my boogie cherry! And I'm just a hop skip away in AZ... All that is gold does not glitter, Not all who wander are lost.
  10. It seems most DZ in NZ are tandem factories... I couldn't believe how many drop zones there were!!!! Every random town seemed to have one. Anyone thinking of going to NZ just go and do it, freaking amazing time, so damn easy to travel around solo and amazing scenery. I flew round trip from LAX to Auckand for $800. I REALLLY want to jump over Fox Glacier but it was socked in for three days with rain and clouds so i moved on... All that is gold does not glitter, Not all who wander are lost.
  11. Perfect place to end my NZ vacation. Stayed the the Laughing Kiwi(amazing hostel 20 min walk from airport) and couldn't have been happier with my choice. I made my first jump outside my home DZ here and would jump again in a second. Picked me up from Nelson (an hour away) and felt relaxed the second i walked in the door. If i'm ever in NZ again i'll jump with out a doubt. Thanks boys!
  12. Just got back from jumping at Skydive Abel Tasman/Skydive Nelson and it was great! I was making my first jump away from my home drop zone and I couldn't have asked for a better place to do it. Great landing area, good plane, and superbly nice guys! A bit hard to keep alt awareness as I had the ocean on one side and gorgeous Southern Alps on the other! 13. I'm spending 17 days in NZ this Aug/ Sept and i will have just gotten my A. What is gonna be the safest, best place to solo jump in NZ? Most places I've seen cater to tandem so i'd like to find a fun jump place. I'm planning on hitting the north and south island and doing as much as i can so location is completely open.
