Skydive Quantum Leap / The St. Louis Skydiving Center
  1. Yes. If you are looking for a reasonably-priced chain hotel, there is a Super 8 about 5 minutes from the DZ. If you are looking for a more-affordable (but very clean) local hotel, you can't go wrong with the Heartwood Motel, which is about 2 minutes from the DZ. If you are planning on staying at the Heartwood, I would suggest you make a reservation soon, as they only have about 25 rooms and most of them are already booked up for the boogie. See you soon!
  2. LOL, I was wondering when someone might ask. The GOON's are a group of well-know, well-seasoned (some of them remember jumping with Wilbur and Orville Wright flying their jump planes) jumpers from around the St. Louis area. They are famous for putting together medium to big skydives that are usually succesful and always fun. They are always happy to recruit new jumpers (though I can't go into detail about that recruitment process here) and you can bet that you'll have a blast jumping with them. To find out more, join us for our Season-Opener Boogie!
  3. Yep, the GOON's will be here all day Saturday and possibly Sunday. We're looking forward to seeing you.
  4. The season is here and we plan on kicking it off in style! The boogie will start at noon on Friday, April 4th and will run through Sunday evening. All jumps will be from the Sweet Beech 99, the fastest jump plane in the midwest! We will have free RW and freefly organizing for all levels, as well as novelty jumps (hoops, tubes, inflatables, spaceballs and more) with Joe Jackson. The DZ will be providing free food, drinks, entertainment and bonfires in the evening (with no registration fee). Camping is available and a great time is guaranteed. For more details and updates, be sure to check out http://www.skydivestlouis.com. See you there!
  5. With the end of Daylight Savings Time, The St. Louis Skydiving Center is technically on a winter schedule; open Friday afternoon and all day Saturday and Sunday. With that being said, we are still available seven days a week: if you want to come out and get some jumps in on a Monday, just give us a call and we’ll organize some weekday jumping. As always, the weekday minimum on the Cessna is just two jumpers, and the weekday minimum to get the Beech in the air is only four. We always have enough jumpers on the weekend (and pretty much always during the week) to get the Beech in the air. The only time we've flown the Cessna in the past couple of months is the sunrise hop n' pop loads that flew last Sunday. You can pretty much guarantee that the Beech will be flying on any weekend. We have both freefly and RW load organizers available each weekend and would love to have you out. If you have any questions, please give us a call at 1-800-STL-JUMP. 6. The forecast is looking great this weekend, so come on out and get some Beech jumps in before winter moves in. As an added incentive to jump your behinds off, anyone who makes more than 10 jumps this weekend will get all of their jumps for $20! We will also be having a Halloween party on Saturday night, along with food and drinks provided by the DZ. See you there! http://www.skydivestlouis.com
  7. Here's your chance to come get lei'd, and make some kick-ass skydives all at the same time! The St. Louis Skydiving Center and Skydive Quantum Leap will be hosting the first-annual Beech Boogie September 14-16th in Bowling Green, MO. The boogie will kick off on Friday at noon and we've already heard from lots of people who will be driving their campers up on Friday morning in order to be ready to jump hard all weekend. We will have a barbeque cookout all day Saturday and Sunday, along with a deep-fired turkey cookout on Saturday night. We will also have plenty of refreshments on-hand both Friday and Saturday night. Saturday evening will feature a live band along with a jam sessions, so be sure to bring your instruments. Oh yeah, I guess I should mention aircraft as well. In addition to the Sweet Beech 99, the fastest jump-plane in the midwest, we will have a Pitts bi-plane offering aerobatic rides and jumps, as well as a helicopter on Saturday, giving out free rides to some lucky individuals. We will have free RW and freefly organizing available all weekend and if there is enough interest, we will also be doing night jumps on Saturday night. There is plenty of camping available on the airport and a great time is guaranteed! See you this weekend! http://www.skydivestlouis.com

  10. If there is enough interest, absolutely! We'll start a list in manifest this weekend, and if there are enough jumpers interested in boogie-ing through Monday, let's do it!
  11. Well, it's official. Due to the overwhelming response to the "Quantum Leap's Back Boogie", we've added a Super Otter to the flightline for the weekend. The Super Otter will be here on Friday morning, and will be sticking around through Sunday. Can you say big-ways???
  12. The boogie is on, come rain or shine (though I've got my fingers crossed for shine). This forecaster (and his magic doppler 8-ball) is calling for sunny skies with scattered puffy clouds, highs in the mid-70's, and west winds at 5-10mph. We've got plenty of non-jumping activities planned too, so even if we do have some bad weather, it's still gonna be a great time! It also sounds like we're going to have plenty to drink once we're done jumping. 22 days and counting!
  13. Yeah, over the past year, the 550hp -20's were replaced with 680hp -27's, and we're currently doing a little more work to get a bit more performance out of the airplane and also putting new props on it. I know that when popsjumper jumped it, it was a pretty sweet aircraft, but now it's super-sweet! Now it's called the Super-Dooper, Bad-A**, Smokin-fast, Mofo of a Beech, among other things. So far, almost everyone who has jumped it has commented that the Beech is their new favorite jump plane.
  14. Yeah, between the work we've put into the engines and the new props, it should be even faster this year(I know, hard to believe!). I did get a good chuckle out of hearing everyone at Couch Freaks commenting on how fast those Super Otters were, while all of the KC jumpers kept commenting on how slow they seemed after getting spoiled by the Beech! I'm looking forward to the cigars and will be bringing a bottle of Gold Label with me. Be sure to bring an extra one for George. 32 days and counting!
