  1. Speaking of launches, I'd love to join the rest of the world to come down and see the last one in February. However, I got lucky with the one launch I DID get to see because I was in the right place at the right time. I know that I could get there and have it scrubbed, but it still sounds like something not to miss if it can be helped. Any thoughts on the advisability of trying to make a single-purpose trip? (After all, it's Florida. . . . I guess if I miss the space shuttle, there's still plenty to do!)

  2. I don't want to become the person who worries about family interference with work. That sounds like a backwards set of priorities to me. I know a lot of people live for their work and the truly fortunate ones love it so much that work is not a "job" to them, but even in that scenario I think it's important to make family a priority and not to see them as an interference. Sometimes you just have to decide what time is YOURS and block it out on the calendar so that you aren't committed to taking calls or jumping through hoops. It seems like there's always more you COULD be doing but I think you get some real diminishing returns at some point.

  3. I don't mind Emeril's being somewhere else, we'll figure it out!

Is the tunnel worth a trip? I know people have loved Orlando and they had some great instructors there at one time, but what's the air like?

  4. Good--glad you said "Emeril's." There are officially 60,000 restaurants in a two-block section of the park and my husband keeps asking where I want reservations. Now I know something to tell him!! ;)

I went to Kenney for a shuttle launch once and it's one of my all-time favorite memories. I would go back just for the regular tour again in a heartbeat! I don't know why that always gives me goosebumps, but it does!

Now I have to work on the costume. I'm hoping it's early enough in October that I can still find something good and easy to pack! I had no idea that you got to zip through the rides, though. That alone is worth it!!

  5. A friend said to make that the first stop of the day. If lines are 1.5 hours, I see why!

We're doing the usual Disney extravaganza, I think, including the not-so-scary Halloween thing, Cirque du Soleil, a safari at Animal Kingdom and maybe a luau, if we can find an opening. We never had the money to do trips like that when I was a kid. I think I'm making up for lost time! :D

  6. My husband and I are getting ready to take a trip to Florida and I'm just wondering if Harry Potter is worth the price of separate admission at Universal Studios. It looks like a lot of fun on the web, but I'm just wondering if it lives up to some pretty lofty expectations. I hope so . . . it could be terrific, or a real let down!

(I tried to look for other threads on this topic and found a gazillion references to Harry Potter but only one passing comment about Universal. Hope it's not a repeat!)

  7. It's just up the road; you can't tell where one ends and the other begins. That said, San Jose has a lot of inclusive resorts and so there were a lot of restaurant options at the hotel but you had to travel further if you wanted something different to eat. I think it was something like a 25 minute cab ride (?) to get to Los Cabos. It didn't bother me, but if you're looking for stuff within walking distance, that's not it! ;) It's a nice area though.

  8. I've stayed at the Crowne Plaza in San Jose del Cabo, and it was terrific if you're looking for an all-inclusive resort that's a bit outside of the buzz. Rooms were great and the staff was very helpful. I haven't stayed in the heart of Los Cabos, though. Have a wonderful trip!
