  1. GoFast bubble gum?? EWWWWW, that shit's gonna make my knee fall off completely :)

only if I can also make you all continuously sniff those PF car freshener thingies at the same time... I can never quite figure out what the flavor is... orange vanilla with a hint of nasty?

yea I'm a bit torn between wanting to see all my friends and not wanting to see all you bitches jump your ass off.
    We'll see

the raptor was first, then R wing, then R bird. you know he also made an x wing before the xbird.

    uhmmm.... are you suuure?

disclaimer, i'm not a tony rep so hopefully the guys in charge of that stuff will add more "official" details...

But here's what I recall. The "bird" mod was introduced as the new cut in the wing, as shown in that picture... and this was back in '09... first there was the new thunderbird (aka tbird), I think it was the dirty sanchez boogie in sebastian when I tried out one of the very first prototypes... and then the same mod was done to all the other suits in tony's arsenal... I recall trying an r-bird later that summer... so they all got "bird" names attached to that first initial from the older style line of suits.

The "wing" name came later... maybe around winter 2009-2010? I associate it with the moment the fastback option was put in. What I'm not entirely certain about is if there are a bunch of other options that are officially tied to the "wing" name (like the mini ribs and whatnot)... but chronologically speaking I'm pretty sure he made the "wing" series after the "bird" series. Unless there was a recent move back towards the "bird" name again that I'm unaware of...

I'll back off now and wait for the people in the tony crew to actually provide more detailed info...

  3. Gotta love how the P2 just wants to take off! :)So much aerodynamic power in such a small wing.

To answer your question, Yes. There are a few things you can do.

Have you ever seen the position I fly in for vertical formations? It's the one trick I've found to get the Phantom to bleed off a lot of its awesome forward speed without compromising any lift and still leaving a lot of range for control. It's all about cupping as much air as you can, with your entire body.

Rather than relying on bringing your knees up on your butt for slow down (which gives you less to work with as far as leg inputs go, too), try bringing your knees forward, so the lower surface of your legs can still be fairly parallel to the airflow and allow you to use all kinds of minor inputs. Sometimes this position can be done so aggressively it looks like you're in a sit. I've gotten quite a few laughs and "wtf"s for this style of flying I like to do... but if fucking works pretty damn well!

Keep the head-low profile that the phantom likes to fly in, shoulders nicely rolled in, but use your chest-hips-knees surface to cup air (as well as your armwings - wingtip grippers brought in) and you'll find an interesting position of great control for slow forward flight.

    here's a picture

Also, beware when you're docking with someone that the no.1 reaction they have when taking a grip is to slow down forward. Everyone does this. We take a dock and all of a sudden we forget to fly with our legs because we're too concerned with what our hands are doing. So expect that to happen before it actually happens and consciously compensate for it throughout the docking process.

Also tell your buddy to focus on keeping those legs out throughout the dock. It's something that takes a bit of practice. I remember whenever we were working on the bigger docked formations we all had this same reflex to bring legs in as soon as we docked, which has a bigger forward slowing effect in the TBird than in your phantom.

If while doing all this you still find yourself too high, bring your arms back more. As much as you have to. As much as your body allows you to. Also, as Jarno mentioned, vary the width of your legwing. That'll fix any further up&down tweaking you need to do. But mostly what needs to happen from what I see in that video is you need to bring down your forward speed, while your buddy needs to bring theirs up a notch.

Ask skydivers if than want to land a wing suite without a canopy.
    -Cool????

I usually reply to that one with 'moron' as well haha

I usually reply to most things you guys say to me with 'moron' as well :D
seems to be quite a trend...

  5. Tell Eli there may be some quality titty flashing going on at FnD... if only he saw the car to motorcycle docking videos from last year... which do not exist anywhere, of course, neither did any of that happen...

ohh, the reaction on people's faces when they tried to put those things in their mouth...

Trying REALLL hard to not comment on this one....:P

hey man, for once there was something people were putting in their mouth that I had absolutely no interest in...
(and yes, I realized what I was writing as I was writing it, but left it there regardless... you know me... all dirty talk...)

  8. ha, those things remind me of the gofast gum (or whatever energy drink brand it was)... remember that, guys? I think it was at some flock n dock...
ohh, the reaction on people's faces when they tried to put those things in their mouth... priceless!

  9. man, gotta love how all these threads turn into a bunch of shit shows.

    feed the centipede... FEEEEEED.... FEEEEEED....
    :P
(sorry, inside joke... those who were there will know)

let's learn whatever we can from past events and try to do better next time. everyone! and that includes not just flying skills, but perhaps better communication skills, less last minute doing shit skills, and so on...

a personal issue I have is calling this a "record" to begin with.
the word "challenge" was carefully chosen... and that's how we should view this. as a challenge! screw records, screw going for the numbers, firsts, bullshit...

think of it as research. we try shit out. sometimes it doesn't work out as planned. what can we do?

option1: bitch, bitch, and bitch some more, especially with plenty of name calling cause that sure helps a lot on these forums
option2: constructively talk about what happened WITH all involved and learn from it.

no wonder nobody ever comes to post on these forums anymore...

AAAnyway... how's PIA going? Let's get back on topic here! I wanna see vids with Tonysuits and PhoenixFly and whoever else has their crap there. Shiney!! Cmon, show me shiney!!

ok... so it looks like it took me a total of 20 minutes to make a final decision here :)

    tix booked.
can only do sat&sun. work sucks like that. redeye flights rock, though.
can I get a ride from/to the airport sat morning & sun evening? anyone? please?

can't wait to fly with you guys!!! YEEEAAAH!

  11. wait, I'm a little confused.

I mean.. yay, thanks, and congrats to you guys as well...

But Stu and I (and maybe others on that list) did the course way back last summer... I'm just wondering if there were supposed to beother new names on that list instead from the US contingent (like from the actual Feb 5/6 pf-coach course) and somebody copied and pasted the wrong ones?

otherwise... yay. nice to see our little pfc family growing stronger and stronger
