  1. http://www.family.org/fmedia/askdrbill/a0038179.cfm hmm... besides a golden watch...
  2. I don't blame you for that. I'd also rather be to careful than having to regret it even once. But you don't know me at all. I'm convinced I could do some basejumps, until I'd run out of luck. Doesn't seem to be worth it - does it? So I'll just go jump some more... eventually grow out of it - or one day - when I'm convinced it's based on skill / not just luck... I'll take the next step. Seems to be the logical order.
  3. I don't think that's a contradiction. Usually I don't worship life enough, nevertheless there's going to be a mechanical engineering diploma in my hands.
  4. 40 bucks a week doesn't sound too bad. Others smoke more than that. Definitely you're making a better investment and don't even get lungcancer
  5. As mathematical equation simply wrong: (if these two taken as right) the problem lies in this statement NEVER = 0! so we get (1)-(2): DANGER – BORING + N*FUN = - N*DANGER /-DANGER BORING + N*FUN= -(N + 1)*DANGER N*FUN + (N+1)*DANGER = - BORING equals EVEN MORE FUN (should be right) the problem is that there are 4 unknowns – assumed LOTS OF is any Number so the equation is still 2 times hypostatic hence resulting in a solution being conditional to 2 of the unknown. But I’d say the 1st statemend is wrong as well: FUN (CONDITIONS) = a*HEIGHT + b*WEATHER + c*CONSTITUTION + d*MOOD +e*EQUIPMENT +f*ATTITUTE*DANGER note that all of the variables can be negatives as well Obviously I had a bottle of Martini (just because I have to work hard the next 3 days, otherwise it would have been a bottle of fine Vodka)
  6. Gotcha! Do you even think I would start doing basejumps whithout being able to really control my dives and canopy under all circumstances? Ok - if there was a good place like this around the corner I'd probably go for it because I'm not very good at avoiding temptation. The money is always the the least when there's a true will - don't you agree? Also I could just order a container and canopy (I'm not that broke) and hope for the best if I wanted. But as mechanical engineering student there's no need to trash my life this early
  7. Definitely on the 2do before 30. http://www.gly.uga.edu/railsback/FieldImages/BasaltTwinFalls.jpeg Looks awesome. Got to earn some more money though
  8. Did I ever mention in any word that I didn't have fun? At first I was disappointed because I had too high expextations but the more jumps I made the better it got. What was also great fun was the half hour I spent in Skyventure's tunnel. I should have done that before - but where should I know that from? Nevertheless the last time I rent a fast car and drove it up and down the mountain roads of the "Großglockner" almost every 180° turn sideways I really had a blast. I had muscles in my cheek the next day because of smiling the whole time. How can you top that?
  9. :-) Did I offend you in any way? I didn't call you a sissy, did I. It's a shame - and I really wanted it to - but skydiving just didn't exite me like all the others. Maybe it's because I don't worship life enough, but what's there to do about? I don't think there's anything cool about having had close calls. Btw, I did those jumps within a few days - and didn't skydive eversince because I couldn't complete my USPA A license abroad - and therefore I'm not allowed to jump at any base without paying an instructor (again) or returning to where I did my AFF. Also there isn't any sense in wasting your money on sth that doesn't reward you with what you expect (unless it gives you even more) - is there?
  10. I know that you're shy :-) but although that I'm far from baseing myself I'd like to get to know someone who's actually jumping BASE in Germany. Is it really pushing adrenaline as everybody tells? Because everybody is expecting a lot of adrenaline from normal skydiving / but to be honest / I wouldn't have completed my AFF if I hadn't already paid it in advance. If you prepare enough / there aren't any risky situations hence no adrenaline. Or maybe I just had enough near-death situations that there can't be anything enhanced? I only completed the AFF course and had another 13 jumps. I don't even have an USPA A license *Charly didn't allow it* nor a German license - but plan to do it after the upcoming exams - possibly during holidays in Slovakia or sth.
