  1. I was down to 200 at the end of December. I ballooned up to 215 since staying with my mum, but I plan on being down to 195 if not 190 by the end of February.
  2. I've been doing well! Have kind of slacked off on the workouts because I am moving next week but I am down to 200 pounds! It is really exciting. I plan on dropping down to 190 and then work on flexibility, toning, and endurance versus raw strength. Definitely making my first tandem this coming spring.
  3. That is AWESOME man, many congratulations! :) Just posting in this thread to give an update: Down to 206 lbs now, here is a picture of myself at 210 lbs Keep it up everyone, you can do it! :)
  4. Heya, doin' well! I am down to 218 lbs and have been ramping up my warmup with an hour of walking instead of my usual 20-30 mins coupled with the other things in my routine.. I've been seeing some results. Updated pics! My flannel shirt is a 3x so it makes me look much fatter than I am.
  5. Had a great workout last night.. 7.5 miles and upper and lower body lifting. I did 3.25 miles over the course of an hour on the treadmill and then 3.25 miles in 1 mile, 10-minute blocks on the elliptical machine interspersed with stretching. pardon the white trash look, it's my day off and I know I need a haircut. the shirt in the upper body shot makes me look huge because it is way too large for me. Down to 219 in these pics
  6. I have learned to eat leaner and consume smaller portions less frequently.. for now my goal is 200 lbs and then after that I'd like to aim for between 180 and 190 after weight loss and rebuilding muscle mass. I am confident that I have the hang of it.. I don't binge and I feel comfortable eating many things in moderation but try to avoid the truly unhealthy things unless I know I can work it off (cake, cookies, dining out, etc). I do avoid foods/beverages with MSG and HFCS if at all possible though.
  7. Hey all.. down to 235 and just wanted to post a pic of my progress for comparison. The pic with my two good friends was taken last year when I weighed around 300.. and don't mind the dirty mirror in the newer one.
  8. Hope I'm not late to this thread! :) I've been working on losing weight since March of this year and didn't really get into it until early summer. My current routine consists of 60 minutes of warm up walking on a treadmill, keeping my pulse between 130 and 160 BPM. After that I do one mile of cardio on an elliptical machine and finish off with toning by free weights and a drop weight machine. On average I travel about 5 miles per day on foot when my workout is lumped into that. I do this at least 6 if not 7 days a week. Down to 237 lbs, was around 285 pounds in March of 2007. :)
  9. Sorry for the thread necromancy.. just wanted to post an update. I hope this isn't spamming, I am just so happy that I am using this as an outlet to express my pride (hubris? >_>) I rarely post.. just lurk and read Anyway.. as of yesterday I am down to 250 pounds and steadily dropping. Staying on track won't be a problem.. and I'll be making my first tandem jump likely between March and April of next year! :) Blue Skies!
  10. I am by far a lurker rather than active poster here but just wanted to post something I am proud of. in my earlier thread http://dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2886419;#2886419 I basically professed my desire to skydive. Anyway, I was very heavy and couldn't jump. Last year in 2006 I weighed 320 lbs, and in 2007 I weighed 285.. but now later this year i've been on a steady plan of diet and exercise and am down to 265.. by the end of next spring I should be ready to make my first tandem jump! blue skies
  11. Hello, I am a 21 year old male (22 in a couple months.. ugh), and there have been thoughts running through my head for a while that I'd like some input on.. I've wanted to try skydiving ever since I was 10 years old, haven't yet due to developing poor eating habits and not exercising enough in my formative years (I am actively working on changing these things though, the diet I have a decent grip on now just exercise..). Got caught up in a bunch of family drama/self image BS that I never should have given a second of my ears to but that's in the past.. Anyway, I remember jumping on trampolines and falling back to earth or leaping up into the air on a sofa arm and landing on the cushions imagining myself falling through the air.. such a liberating and joyous sensation. With all the turmoil in the world today, a finite fossil fuel supply, etc, etc. and being 21 already without any college under my belt but a strong desire to pursue my dreams.. is it worth it to take up skydiving and BASE jumping seriously? Where there is a will there is a way and my heart tells me to try and live outside the context of others' strife and turmoil but it still gets to me I guess. If I could have my dreams, I would be able to skydive, BASE jump, shoot photographs and make short films all over the world and enjoy the places where others forget to go in their quest for money, pride, fame, whatever. Almost 22 and still have quite a few pounds to lose and no skydiving experience under my belt, would you all consider me foolhardy or having a mistaken sense of wanderlust? Just want some input in general. Thank you for your time and reading this. -Hurloon Edit: apparently there are some base jumping links in my post that i did not insert at all, why?
  12. Hello, just thought I'd post an introduction and share my interest in skydiving with you fine folks. :) I am 20 years old, male, and currently reside in Iowa. I haven't jumped yet, but plan on doing so next year. Always have wanted to try it since I was 10 or so. My plan is to take a tandem jump first, and if I enjoy it enough, follow through with an AFF program. Nice to meet you all and I am so thankful to have found such a great anchor within the community online :) (dropzone.com)
