Shee---it, I havent landed on the golf course.

I landed there once (on jump #53)...when I had learned how to track quite well...but not how to estimate my canopy's glide range or maximize my canopy glide.

I tell you, when we opened today (quite north of the end of the runway) on that last jump...I know there were a couple of us thinking it might be challenging to get back (and might land in either the golf course or Arizona)...but the wind was WAY strong and the only issue was getting any penetration after turning on final...and of course avoiding being dragged after landing.

ya need to water that grass

Dude, the only way you're landing in grass in Mesquite is if you land in a golf course. But...I think most of us have done that at least once. :)

See aerial view in JT's photo : The landing area is that spot under the guy's left armpit who is wearing the red and yellow jumpsuit.

This boogie rocked! I had 14 fantastic jumps! And it ended so perfectly (despite the high winds) with a totally sick dual wingsuit rodeo stack with tons of trackers following beside/behind. Kudos to JT's girl for hanging on despite missing the exit count. What a RAD jump! The best one yet!

I am so mad that I missed that jump...by 3 minutes.
Spot, I would love to see those pictures.

I wish you could of made the jump too! I don't think anyone got any good video...I so wish I had worn my camera....but I thought the jump was complex enough..probably the right decision! I have it in my brain at least!!!B|

BTW-VERY nice 14 way pic above JT! You should send that one to Parachutist!

Your right, those ideas behind the discussion are unimportant, it's really the detailed minutae that's essential. Good thing Lincoln didn't accidentally say "Four score and six years ago". We might still have slavery.

I forget some of you have nothing better to do than sit on Dropzone 25 hours a day a always be more "right" than everyone else.

BTW, how do "post like" something? and further, how do you know I don't know Michael?

Well...I think the point is...Yes Michael and Brent have the right to conduct their business in a way that best serves their interest/goals.

    BUT

Likewise, the public (that's US) has a right to voice our disdain for their business practices. Sort of like JT said...I respect a DZO's right to not allow fun jumping...but I also reserve my right to call him a dickhead.:P

Where is this "new" site at. I only see the old one at tonysuits.com and when I click the wingsuit link midway down.

Can someone tell me what harness size C-19 is when talking about a jav Odd?

    Thanks.

I have a Jav that has a C19 harness and I am 6'2" and have ranged between 190 and 215 while I have owned the harness and it fits wonderfully.

Seriosly though...how did you make it through 4 years in the sport and not know what a MLW was?[:/]

I'm new to skydiving. I'm going to be taking my AFF course in May/August but had a question about rigs.

What are the main differences between a skydive rig and a base rig? Are the chutes packed differently? Are they made to open differently?

    Thanks

Besides all the technical stuff....BASE rigs only hold one parachute.

you know it baby- we going to vegas !;)

Hmmm...Thats it! LA, PHX then Vegas baby....yeah! Time for me to talk to the DZO and set up a 3rd weekend of wingsuit sickness (or gayness...if that is your thing) in November 2008.

Look for the announcement of the...."World Record Wingsuit FUN Way" event at Skydive Mesquite on November 22nd and 23rd!!!

  10. I disagree. While I thing the current state of wingsuiting rocks...where total newbie's like me can get on dives with some of the most experienced wingsuiter's around. I just recently spent a couple days at Z-Hills and had a blast.

I also appreciate that in order to build massive formations, there has to be a selection process from a safety and make it happen perspective.
True world records will never be built at open events

I do hope that wingsuiting stays the welcoming group that I have found it to be, but it can do that and still invite the best to set new standards.

Anyone ever gone down to Zhills to Javelin and toured the place? I want to go down there and check it out and aslo get measured up while im there. I emailed them off the website 4 days ago or so, and am waiting to hear back. Is that th best way to go about this? Or any suggestions....thanks:)

I suggest you go to the Sunrise Rigging factory instead and buy a wings. Good luck getting a response from Sunpath!

I own a Javelin and a Wings and both are quality rigs. Sunpath has been totally unresponsive to my questions and even my desire to get quotes on parts/modifications. Sunrise responded quickly and went above and beyond to help me out!

Why don't you contact both with the same request and see who helps you out! That should give you a good feel for what company you want to do business with!

That should be a hoot to watch.

I think the backloop will be the biggest challenge.

doing only one backloop may be the challenge, post the video

If I pull it off...or heck if I just get some good or "exciting" video trying...I'll definitely post it.

Can anyone recommend a semi eliptical canopy that is not as slippery as a pilot. I demoed a pilot and love the way it flies and lands, but it's about impossible to get in the bag.

Yes, the FIREBOLT! It is actually fully eliptical but is quite similar to the Pilot. It has ZP top skin and F-111 bottom skin and is WAY easier to pack. It is the only canopy that I have flown (Safire1&2's, Sabre2's, Spectre's, Tri's) that has openings comparable to the Pilot...the Firebolt's is easily as soft...maybe softer. The Firebolt does turn sharper (dives more) and it has a awesome planeout and bottom end flare...the Pilot is a near perfect intermediate canopy in my opinion and I think that the Firebolt has all of the goods of Pilot plus considerably easier packing. The Firebolt is slightly more aggresive, but not considerably.

  15. So I have this crazy idea to try to do my C-License aerial performance requirements in my Phantom to earn my C-License.

It will certainly take a few "training" jumps to see if it is reasonable for me, but what about you more experienced folks....do you think it is feasible to do a: backloop, frontloop, left 360, right 360, right barrel roll and left barrel roll in your wingsuit in 18 seconds???

After nailing the sequence...I need to make sure my cameraman can keep me in frame while doing this.

At least trying should be darn good fun!

  16. For all of those who carry the all important pull-up cord..just in case. Do you wear shoes with shoestrings? They will work to! Not that a pull-up is difficult to carry. But I have heard some people say it is most important to carry a pull-up cord so you can pack whe you land WAY out...but I think most of us wear shoes (I do and I'm from Kentucky!) so I think it is just one less thing to have to carry.
