  1. Sounds good man! Is there anyone planing on driving out to the DZ Friday evening around 8:30? One person is flying into the ATL airport and needs a ride at 8:30. If not I will go get him. I am just trying to avoid the 1.5 hour drive! Thanks!
  2. Hey everyone! A few of us are going to be going down on Thursday to jump Thrsday afternoon and Friday. See ya soon!
  3. I was looking for a really light weight video camera. I have two sony mini-dv cams now but I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to use one of these? DXG-305V http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4027174&JRSource=nsa&nsa=1 It says they record at 30 fps but I am not sure if they can take an external lens or how long they would record for. I was looking at it just for shooting student video. You can get them for less than $90 bucks! At that price I could buy 4 and not worry about tearing it up to much! Anyone try these yet?
  4. Yea I knew that and unfortunately that is the only weekend I could hold it. I didn't think there were a lot of people that would be attending that had met the requirements for the championship anyways. In order to compete you had to compete in 3 regional competitions or 5 nationwide comps.
  5. 12 bucks to 5000 feeet, multiple passes will be allowed!
  6. Hey everyone! I made some prinatble flyers for the boogie! Just go to the site and they are in the bottom right. http://www.teamwickedliquid.com/swoopboogie/index.htm If people that jump at DZs other than Carolina Sky Sports it would be great if they could print a couple and post them at thier home dzs! Thank You, Joey
  7. I think there are a few criteria. 1. Someone that is flying at least an elliptical canopy and can comfortably and safely perform a 270 degree landing. 2. Flying a 1.5 wing loading or higher. 3. Could make it through a 200 foot blade course without hitting any of the blades. This boogie is looking to help people that have established they are proficient at a 270 landing and are ready to start to drag toe and try some freestyle moves. Unfortunately unless you are surfing 250 - 350+ consistenly I don't think you will be able to perform many freestyle moves except for dragging your foot!
  8. What kind of canopy are you getting?
  9. I am waiting to hear from Hanz about the pricing. There will be no registration fee! For the people that are coming if they could bring a person that wouldn't mind filming that would really help. I would like to have at least 4 or 5 people on the ground filming. I will make sure to have the cameras, we just need the people! Also it would be a good idea to start thinking of a move that you have seen or even one that you have made up that you want to practice! I know I have the ones I want to try Lets get ready for the carnage!!
  10. Wicked Liquid is hosting a swoop boogie at skydive the Farm in Georgia. It is basically a get together for swoopers to practice new moves and trade tips. It is for Intermediate and Advanced swoopers only. If you have any ?s please email Joey at [email protected]. They have two killer ponds to practice over so f you have been itching for some water then you need to show up. I am trying to arrange to have a few "experts" on the different aspects of swooping. I am trying to get someone to talk about Canopy Aerodynamics. Joe Bennet said he was going to try to come and talk about the different designs of removable deployment systems. Here is a link to the event: http://www.teamwickedliquid.com/swoopboogie/index.htm I am trying to get Joe to show up with his modified Velocity plus we just ordered the 5th JVX Hybrid off the line so I am hoping we will have it by then! See ya soon! Chuck I wasn't sure if you said I could or couldn't link to the website so if I shouldn't have a link just tell me and I will remove it!
  11. The main reason behind a stabilizer is to reduce the wing tip vortices! Correct? Without stabilizers the wing tip vortices would roll around the outside edge of the canopy and make the canopy less stable and turbulent! Low aspect ratio canopies have larger wing tip vortices. On smaller high aspect ratio canopies these vortices are not eliminated because of the higher aspect ratio but are reduced significantly. They are reduced even more by making the canopy elliptical and reducing the thickness of the wing at the ends. Sub 110 elliptical canopies have very small wing tip vortices hence the reason Joe Benet didn't notice a large difference in performance when he removed them. The removal of them will reduce pack volume and most importantly reduce drag! Later!
