  11. This is what I wrote regarding Pacific Skydiving when I got back from my vacation there:

    From the dz review from one of their instructors to the professionalism of their packers this is one drop zone you should definitely check out. The KingAir is fast to altitude with the climb out going over the Pacific (lots to see from the windows). Spotting is dead on, the view from altitude and under canopy is unbeatable. The packers are quick and efficient, the entire staff treats you like you're one of their own. I was only able to make one jump there yet was treated as if I'd been jumping there from the beginning. Definitely one of the friendliest drop zones I've visited, just remember to bring your beer!!

    Those are the 2 I'm familiar with... both are fairly easy to use once you get the mic set up... it also helps with your pronunciation... and yes, a laptop can use a mic (little plug in should be on the side or back)

  19. I've done several helicopters and a balloon jump... can't say I've gotten the 'falling' sensation (probably because there's nothing next to you for reference), but you can definitely feel yourself accelerating and it's an awesome feeling... B|

    Beyond the obvious applicability of the above quote to your "feel-good" strategy, I am humbled by your reckless disregard for the safety of other skydivers. It's obvious to everyone that the man is immune to both instruction and self-examination. But I guess we have to endanger everyone else to appease your dream quest for Kumbaya.



    And your obvious desire to ostracize him and push him away will make him go to another dz where they don't know him and he'll keep doing the same shit until someone DOES get hurt... what does that solve? Not a dam'n thing.... take him up on 2 & 3 ways and work on his skills... oh, wait.. I forgot, skydivers don't pay it forward or help those who obviously need it....

  24. I drive a 2004 Mustang with a V-6, gets 24mpg... and I haven't put gas in it since it hit $3/gallon.... I walk or take public transportation if possible....

    Right now we have a chance to make a difference... we CAN force the gas prices lower but it's going to take all of us, and our friends, and their friends working together to do it...

    Don't think it'll work? What happened 235 years ago when the our forefathers resented a major company (the East Indies Tea Company) that employed lobbyists and had a lot of influence in the British Parliament?
    Do what you want, protest and stop buying from Exxon/Mobile... or be a sheep... I'm done discussing it....

  25. This train of thought was started by a chain email I received from my sister-in-law so I thought I'd take a look at where things are and what really could be done about it....
    First a little background...

    Now, what can we do about it? Not a hell of a lot really.... We've all heard the "don't buy gas on this day" scheme, and of course it doesn't work because they'll still get their money the following day. The oil companies laugh at such attempts to 'teach them a lesson'.
    If we really want to send a message we need a better way to do so. They don't listen to people, they listen to numbers... primarily the numbers showing how many billion they'll make this quarter.
    My suggestion is to stop buying gas/diesel/oil from Exxon/Mobile. Not for a day, or a week, but for months.... Their quarterly profits will fall thru the floor and they only way they can turn things around is to lower their prices. If one of the major oil companies HAS to lower their prices to make sales the others will have to follow suit or lose customers.

    Let's try to keep this OUT of Speakers Corner....
