  1. The reason has nothing to see with the pins release order .. I was wondering the same question about 2 months ago I have been asking the manufacturer about the reason why ? the only reason is to avoid the pin to rotate inside the cover pin , PdF found out that on smallest containers by putting the right pin above the left one, both pins stays flat better..
  2. in fact, it is only when the H/C manufacturer makes a written statement against such AAD that this one becomes non authorized. Despite the attitude when the H/C manufacturer says silent, is going against AC 105-2C who defines the TSO by saying that the installation of such a device must be approved by the parachute manufacturer or the FAA. Even if there is no written test specification how to approve the AAD to the container. That should be worked out by an international working group as soon as possible.
  3. This safety note is made to spread out the word about the "Argus cutter with insert" change, but more important to remind people that at this day : Argus is not authorized inside Dual Hawk Tandem System from Strong, any rig from Rigging Innovation, any rig from Parachutes de France, any rig from Basik Air concept. Means, at this day in France skydivers owning Argus device in such rigs is not able to jump in France. We will need a written paper from Harness/container manufacturer saying he changes his mind, to modify this situation.
  4. since I am the one who wrote the safety note in French, I guess I can answer this one : the note says that plastic loop on Vigil cutter made before August 2006 ( since then, there are in stainless steel ) can break during a pacjkjob on any kind of rig ( this what is happenned in the first picture) , whatever is the cutter location, without being the rigger fault, only due to the fact that the plastic loops are weak and work against some metal piece (grommet). For instance on rigs like Javelin, where the cutter is located on the bottom of the pack tray, it is not possible for the plastic loop to be right inside the grommet's hole (see picture). Once the plastic loop breaks, it can easily cut the reserve loop jump after jump, but because it could happen at the worst time (when skydivers bend over at the aircraft's door), we ask Riggers to open rigs and inspect very closely plastic loops and reserve loop. If they find any defect, riggers should ask AAD ( Vigil's manufacturer) for a change for stainless steel cutter ( since they are plastic loop less)
  5. hello, I have seen some manufacturer ( PF for instance)recommanding to place mesh and fabrics in between coils, on some conical reserve pilot chute, which are not supposed to lock compare cylindrical . Do they think it really helps? or is it to keep the spring "on heading" which is not easy when the spring is quite strong ? Someone has a though about that?
