Hiya DZ.com!
Well here we are in the new year. It's 2011 WOW! Ten years have pass since I signed up on this little forum for those daring to risk their lives for a buzz. I hope all my old friends are doing well. In those ten years we've lost a lot of friends around here. Heck losing one here is what made me stop jumping. Anyways... I'm not here to bring up the past or to buzzkill the new year.
So anyways... here I am. I'm married and have a baby due in February. Yep, Slappie is bringing a lil Slapmeister into the world. His name is going to be Garrett Thomas. I can't wait!
Also I've gotten a promotion within the company. They're moving me from Houston to the Austin area. So Brains wherever you are. We're are going to have to hook up and turn the town on it's head!!
So that's about all that's happened to me in 2010. I hope everyone has been safe and happy this past year.

Best way I've figured out how to fix a broken fridge. Is to go to Best Buy or Conn's and buy a new one. They're just like everything else in this world now. Disposable.

Got a co-worker who is taking lessons. We were talking about his experiences with jumping and such. Made me long for the sky. Then I came here and read some posts.

We get the whole plane and let's just say as for the cost. IT's expensive. You pay a charter fee, then they prorate how much freight, size and weight etc... I'm into it for $1.5+mil with the weight we're putting on we're getting it pretty cheaply. The more weight, the more fuel stops she has to make. I'm just over 236k lbs of freight. She can handle 550k lbs of freight. Max load on take off is 1.3mil lbs plane and freight. Needs a just under a 3 mile runway for take off.
Just an amazing plane.
Basically I'm shipping stuff that should be moving ocean, via air freight. In the oil patch, this isn't always that uncommon. Though, I've only ever chartered the AN-124. Never the big sister AN-225. Going down the IAH about 7am on Saturday to putz about while we load. Hopefully I'll have some hi-res pix to share.

I'm shipping some BOP Stack equipment to meet up with the Semi-Sub being built in Korea.
We're not even going to tax it on take off. Just about 110k kilos of freight. But we've got some super long strings. Couple TJ (Telescopic Joints) with assorted equipment that must be in Korea ASAP!

The reason we've chartered the Antonov, is the 747 can't handle what we're shipping. The doors and nose load plane just doesn't have the opening we need. So the big beast is coming in to handle it.

This beast will be touching down in Houston IAH this Friday. We load out on Saturday morning. I've seen the little brother the 124 before. I've never EVER seen this one except in pictures.

Then it's perfect. Has enough velocity to clean off the dishes. Plus they'll get some real practice at being a dishwasher. For when they flunk out of college. Because their parents paid for everything and they never really had to work at something their entire life.
