UH, last I saw, Israel was not vowing to destroy Palistine. Unlike the opposite.

Publically vow to do it? No. Actually doing it on a daily basis? Yes.

    lmfao @ this statement.

The only reason israel still exists is they actively pursue those who are responsible for planning and carrying out attacks against their citizens.

Then again I guess they should just let people bomb and shoot them. After all, the whole dont fight back thing worked for so many others.............

  2. I have similar jump numbers and just bought a pilot 210 so I know what you mean. I had a huge problem changing from student gear to a pilot. The glide is so much better on the pilot its rediculous. I landed out my first 3-4 jumps with the pilot because completely overshot the dz..

My patterns and landings are getting better with every jump. Keep at it man, the pilot is a good canopy. Other than that I have no advice to give.. I suck.

If the US is a beggar, why does the world expect the US give money to everyone, fund the UN, ...

As a percentage of GNP the USA gives less than most industrialized nations. We are actually not THAT generous.

Hopefully we can reduce our foreign aid even more so we can start paying down the debt.

Perhaps raise taxes on the rich so we can pay down the debt. Clinton did it and it worked. Bush cut taxes and it went up faster than it ever has, along with corporate profits. So blame welfare and foreign aid, but CLinton dedicated much to these causes and still leveled off the debt, left with an annual surplus...... raised taxes on the rich..... figure it out.

The rich paying over 90% of the taxes isnt enough for you? Get real man.

    >How exactly do you think having troops here prevents attacks?

    Deterrence.

Do you think that if we had no armed forces in the US (or that could respond quickly in the US) we'd be left alone? San Diego would belong to Mexico and Hawaii to China in short order.

If our nukes arent enough deterence we have several airborne divisions that can respond within hours. Not to mention the many many many leg units throughout the country.

We are well protected. 150,000 troops in iraq or not. If we were attacked rest assured that we would crush the opposing force on our soil, invade their country and instill a government that would be an "economic ally"

You should work on your analogies. Mexico?

Let's face it. The America we have grown up in prior to 2000 is waning. A lot of problems we're experiencing were started long before then but they are coming to a head now.

Economically, while Bush spins up fantasies of "improvement", we are actually teetering on the brink of devastation. Our currency becomes more devalued by the day as our trade deficit rises by the day. The lifestyle we live is perpetuated by borrowing from the same people we're buying from. This cycle and all of it's positive side effects will come to an end as countries pull the plug on lending to us and transfer their currency allegiance to more solid ground, namely, the euro. I read a book that referred to America as "the world's glorious beggar." We are becoming the poor man wearing silk. Obviously this won't continue as our debts come due and we struggle to pay them off without having a real production/export orientation to our economy. We are dying economically.

Socially, the future is just as grim, but much more subtle. The Constitution, the foundation upon which this country was founded, is in more danger now than it has ever been. We are stuck under a false pretense that we should be fighting a war on terror. The Republicans believe we never will truly win, the Democrats believe absolution is possible, but it doesn't matter. We will never truly win, and there will be no absolution, but yet we are still pouring our last resources (most of which are borrowed) into a wet dream of a war that will serve nothing more than a carrot guiding a horse off a cliff. It will be the long slow death nail of the way of life we once knew. Hell, the way of life we once knew is already gone. You can blame it on 9/11 if you'd like, but not everything about where we are now, as compared to where we were prior to those events, is NOT the direct result of said events. But it doesn't matter. Times are changing and honestly, the cards we're holding does not look good.

I don't hate America. I don't hate Republicans or Democrats. I don't hate Iraqis or Iranians. I simply don't like what we've become. I'm not pointing blame. A lot of different variables influenced by a lot of different places of a accountability have contributed to our position today.

Honestly, I'm looking elsewhere for my future. I don't know where I can go or what I can do to facilitate my well-being when I get there. But I do feel that if I want to do what's best for me, I probably shouldn't stick around here too much into the future. Guess it's about time I should learn a new language and get ready to become the humble immigrant. :D

Anyone else feel like they want to get out?

Our currency becoming more and more devalued has little to do with Bush.

Just so you know... If our economy goes down, so does the rest of the world. Same thing if there were huge economic problems in europe. Our economies are intertwined... We can borrow all we want.. Our buddies will keep us afloat.

We're dying economically? Yeah dying to get a big mac while I'm pumping gas in my cadillac. You sir dont know what you are talking about.

If you want to go.. Go... Europe is a nice place... Have fun.

    The american people are safer.

You thought you were safe before 9/11. I'm not sure you are any safer now. After all you (we) have pissed off one or two people as a result of the action you've (we've) taken. It's possible that you don't care who you have upset but I doubt it has made you any safer.

I knew we werent safe before 9/11. The military had been downsized and pretty much ignored for 10 years. (thanks clinton) Everyone was getting complacent and security was lax.. We've killed many many many of the people that are "on a mission from god" to kill us. And we will continue to do so.

We as a country are more vigilant and there are less people that are organizing to kill us... Mostly because they are dead. So we are safer.. Sorry princess.

WTF makes us Big Daddy, and everyone else the "mouthy teenager?". We share the world, we don't own it.

I would say that when some country needs help, whether finacially, medically, or militarilly, we always seem to be the ones to step up to the plate. Even then, we are still despised.

That makes us big dog on the block, and we get to call the shots. It's the natural law.

You are despised because of the arrogant attitude that is often displayed by Americans. If you can help financially, medically, militarily or otherwise that is always gratefully received. It's the arrogance that we often hear such as your statement above that people dislike.

    boo f'ing hoo

    US > All

    Deal with it.

edit to add: Who the hell cares what people in other countries think? Fuck 'em.

To many people want to many different things for the UN security council to be effective. We need to make our own foreign policy.. and we do... The UN is good for humanitarian aid but they cant handle anything else.

I dont agree with everything our gov is doing but I'll be damned if a non american is going to dictate our foreign policy.

  9. Did something really really stupid last sunday..
Sunset load.. 9 way speed star... Went low... started tracking at 4500.. Pulled early around 4k... As the canopy opened i saw 3-4 bodies dive bomb past me...

Godamn that was stupid.. I got on the ground expecting everyone to kick my ass. I wouldnt have even fought back...
Everyone was cool about it though... I wanted to shove that pilot chute back in right after I pulled it out. I need to stick to 4 ways or below and pay more attention to where everyone is at pull time.

Killing silently is a tall order, but a quick look at an anatomy chart will show that the larynx is an easy enough target—providing you can make a stealthy submerged approach, sneak up on your victim, and catch him unaware. Once that's accomplished, grasp his hair as close to the scalp as you're able to and yank his head back while using your Ka-Bar combat knife to make a lateral cut across his throat. Make sure you sever both the carotid artery and jugular vein while piercing the windpipe, and press hard; the larynx is a tough, rubbery piece of tissue.

    Hey got anymore tips?

If it itches... Soak it... The burning will still be there but at least you wont scratch all of the skin off of it.

  12. Its all well and good to hate the US... Hey thats pop-culture right now so why not join in..

I've said this before on these forums.. We have had people on the ground training guerrilla forces for years. If there isnt a regime change in Iran Israel will continue to be targeted.

Why would that change if Iran was out of the picuture? Iran has backed Hamas financially, provides them weapons, intelligence etc for a long time. The groups would be alot less effective with that sort of backing... Do you remember the 3 ships that were stopped filled with weapons bound for Hamas from Iran? Probably not... Why would you? The United States are the bad guys right????

  13. ahhh after reading your longer post I see what is going on...

You are a college sophmore or junior that is taking (or took) intro to poly sci to get his humanities electives out of the way. Unfortunately what the prof tells you isnt necessarily gospel.

I know the class is interesting and the prof probably made some compelling arguements for communism in general. but get over it man.

Communism has killed more people than religion in the 20th century.

Well.. The more appropriate name for modern communism is Stalinsim... Thats the form of communism all the other countries that chose to be communist chose to emulate.

I know you are talking about Utopian Communism. The problem is it doesnt work.. Never has, never will. and it has nothing to do with capitalism.

Next semester when you have a new prof that tells you something different about capitalism will you be editing your posts?

and capitalism is raping the land anyway

Raping the land? What the hell are you talking about? Capitalist or communist humans are going to use resources. that means cutting down trees, slaughtering some animals and drilling for oil. If you think giving up freedom to pursue what you want is going to save a few trees or stop some species in the rain forest from going extinct then you are naive. and I dont mean that as an insult...

It would be nice if life were like Fern Gully though.

Which is more destructive (on a global scale)?

No offense sir (Especially since I'm fresh off a ban) but I dont think you understand the question you are asking. Its difficult to compare which is more destructive.. And what kind of communism are you talking about? There are several different kinds.

Socialism is an ok thing as long as the ideology is used moderately. It is all over europe and you can see it in our country as well. Many people in this country think we should have centralized health care and government assistance for the poor people. They also think it is ok to take more money from the rich to redistribute it to the poor. (Tax brackets)

anyway... My point is there is no answer to your question. You are going to have to be more specific. The 2 forms of government you asked about have to many ideologies that fall under them. There are just to many ways to interpret them.
