    My bad skydiving dream is having a bag lock on the main, trying to cut it away and the cutaway cables go on forever, have to keep pulling them out hand over hand, have never got to the end of them before I wake up just about to go in. WTF?

    Exactly, try not to do it. Most collapsible pilot chutes have the indicator window on the bridle which is easily checked (amongst other things) on the flight line..
