...Yet the Iranians choose a 'decades old' Bell 212 to transport the President.
    Hmmm...

I wonder why they made that choice?

When you're paying for a nuclear program sometimes politicians have to make sacrifices by using a 45 year old helicopter.

Thank you for that riveting and important contribution.

Sounds like they’ve found the burned out shell (it was a very ‘hard landing’) with all on board killed. After the way they dealt with the hijab protests last year I have a large amount of negative sympathy for the sick bastard and anyone associated with him.

Agree Allahu Akbar. After Putin he would be #2 asshole that deserves a bullet. Unfortunately the way Iran is there are many others just like him.

Trumpism has revealed serious flaws in the US constutitional and legal system, and how easily it is manipulated by the wealthy and the unscrupulous.

The latest absurdities from Judge Aileen Cannon, giving rulings that can only be considered gifts to the guy who appointed her and are almost appeal-proof, is just an example.

Agree, hence trump's rising popularity in the battle for the poorly educated, below a May 9th poll:

Biden will have to win three, perhaps four of these battles. In other news DJT stock was saved by Russian cash His stock is up 267% in the last six months and now has a market cap of 7.64 billion. Trump's share of that is about $5 billion. No word yet as to who is driving up the price of DJT stock. DJT stock had revenue of $4.1 million in revenue last year.

...  And perhaps that's just an indication of how dumb the average voter is that they would fall for that.

I didn’t say that the average voter wasn’t dumb! Trump calls out the system, the fact that he would tear it down to replace himself as King and cares nothing for Joe Average is a blatant expression of what many politicians appear to aspire to - they just aren’t quite as transparent.

I’m not sure if irony is the right word for it, but seeing support for Trump based on distrust of corrupt politicians is certainly confronting.

IMO politicians and corruption hasn't changed since early civilization. Taxation laws has certainly stratified incomes in some western countries. The internet and 24 hour news has opened up new almost unlimited sources of news. It has also allowed some to surround themselves with ideological self fulfilling news sources.

  5. An IRS audit has revealed that Trump enterprises has taken tax deductions twice for the same costs on a Chicago skyscraper. He likely owes $100 million for the little scam. But its not all bad. He told his lawyers to stall till after January 21st. That he'd make it right and instead get a $100 mill payment.

    Looks like yet another pay .  . . .

Donald Trump dangled a brazen “deal” in front of some of the top US oil bosses last month, proposing that they give him $1bn for his White House re-election campaign

    to play scheme.

vowing that once back in office he would instantly tear up Joe Biden’s environmental regulations and prevent any new ones.

So looks like we now know the cost of a Clarence Thomas ruling AND the price of a Trump decision.

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/article/2024/may/09/trump-oil-ceo-donation

"So looks like we now know the cost of a Clarence Thomas ruling AND the price of a Trump decision"

Nah. thats just the book cover. Wait till people open the book to find billions in other transactions. Like a Saudi nuclear deal. A Ukrainian deal, A NATO deal. Perhaps is the buyer is generous enough a two for one Ukrainian-NATO deal. Then much much more.

Chief Justice Thomas has just stated “My wife and I, the last two or three years, just(hate) the nastiness and the lies,” said Justice Thomas, who did not specify what he was referring to in addressing a full ballroom of lawyers and judges gathered for a judicial conference in Alabama. “There’s certainly been a lot of negativity in our lives, my wife and I, over the last few years, but we choose not to focus on it.” Instead they have chosen to focus upon the warmth and generosity of their many old and new friends.

He went on to say  “You don’t get to prevent people from doing horrible things or saying horrible things,” the justice said. “But one, you have to understand and accept the fact that they don’t, they can’t change you unless you permit that.” Such a strong willed man! Not influenced at all by criticism or a fiduciary duty to integrity.

Within days?  I can name someone who  is fined for contempt,  and does it again the same evening.

Merica, everyone is equal before the law.

Finland, Home of the $103,000 Speeding Ticket  "in Finland, some traffic fines, as well as fines for shoplifting and violating securities-exchange laws, are assessed based on earnings...Reima Kuisla, a Finnish businessman, was recently caught going 65 miles per hour in a 50 zone in his home country...they pinged a federal taxpayer database to determine his income, consulted their handbook, and arrived at the amount that he was required to pay: €54,000."

Yeah, equal justice for all.Did everyone hear about the judge that trump appointed in the documents case. Now postponing the trial indefinably and the MAGA base screams that justice is unfair.

Given the record and makeup of the current SCOTUS I would think that a change toward favouring more blatant governmental support for mainline religions is inevitable. It is already occurring on several fronts, especially support for parochial schools.

"Oh Canada Our home and native land...

God keep our land glorious and free."

Then there is the whole religion think of have a UK "King" and the constitutional monarchy in Canada's business. At least the US had a party and did away with that b.s.

Would you have a book we can reference?

That would be stele, scrolls, or perhaps a couple codex. A learned man like Keith likely has several of each in his library. Most likely next to his book Roman Battle Tactics.

  12. Italy has just declared a "national emergency" because of a falling population. No word yet about Japan and when asked about Russia's falling and ageing population. Putin replied its a good thing because it provides Lebensraum for remaining Russians

Palestine is the only country on earth that has no right to resist occupation, land theft, ethnic cleansing and genocide. WHY?

Why does the entire planet have to ignore or forget what Israel has done TO the Palestinians for the last 70+ years?

All of the Arab states bordering Israel immediately attacked Israel when the state was founded. Subsequently Israel made peace with them. Subsequently in 1967 and 1973 Israel was attacked again Again Israel made peace with them subsequently giving the occupied Egyptian land back. Originally the Palestinians had many Arab states supporting them. Today they have little or no support. None of the wars were initiated by the stateless Palestinians themselves

The main reason is that Iran is using its proxy government Hamas to further its stated objective of destroying Israel. To kill every Jew. The other Arab states recognize the danger of Iranian proxy armies. They have now turned down Palestinian support because of Hamas and Hezbollah. More recently Houthi rebels have fought a war with Saudi Arabia. Turning the Saudis towards recognizing Israel. All to counter Iran.

So Gaza has Hamas which most countries consider a terrorist organization with no authority. Few Gaza Palestinians support Hamas. But because of oppression most polls have shown support for the Hamas attack. On the west bank the PA is seen as completely corrupt. Their support undercut by the actions of the Israel government. Mostly from the Netanyahu right wing parties.

The Western World mostly doesn't recognize Palestine as a country.

Don't think that is the case either. No party can claim the moral high ground here. I honestly don't think there will ever be a solution to this issue.

The Palestinian people in general have nothing wrong. They have been pawns of corrupt leaders, foreign governments, Israel and religion. I agree the solution isn't easy.

    4 hours ago, normiss said:

In my lifetime, it has been more penal colony than country, and the abuse from Israel has been non-stop, much like the punching back from Palestine.

The world would be a better place without religions.

The absence of political leadership will allow this to continue. Even if Gaza is rebuilt, until they make peace with Israel their plight will go on. They absolutely will continue to be a stateless people until they  turn their backs on Iranian influence.

In addition the control of the religious right parties on the Israeli government needs to end. Perhaps a hard line from the US is necessary. i.e. Force an end to illegal west bank Israeli settlements. Get the corruption out of the PA and ban Iranian influenced parties and players. By withholding aid until Israel realized this is an endless unwinnable war.

All of the major Israeli newspapers have recently carried a story almost identical to this one: "Netanyahu prefers weakened Hamas in Gaza to secure power and avoid recognition of alternatives by the international community" If a international peace force that builds a Palestinian state post war "This will also lead directly to the dissolution of the Ben-Gvir-Smotrich-Netanyahu government. This shows the rationale that led Smotrich to declare in 2015 that "Hamas is an asset" and that Netanyahu said at the Likud party meeting in 2019 that we should support the strengthening of Hamas. These ideologies have not changed at all since October 2023"

I meant shutting down the nuclear power plants is expensive and the overall transition to clean energy has been expensive to German consumers. The wholesale price of electricity in Germany is almost twice that of the US

Initial coal use expanded as your charts show and now "Berlin has agreed to spend €16 billion to build four major natural gas plants to meet electricity demand in a major overhaul of the country's energy grid.... and ...Chancellor Olaf Scholz of the Social Democratic Party and the economy minister, Green Party politician Robert Habeck have stated that "Nuclear energy is over."

These new gas plants are solely intended to bridge over to a completely renewable grid bo 2038.

Funny how the narrative changed so quickly from 'just a few bad apples' when they started thinking it was them in the firing line, not just coloured people.

I read a very good article recently asking why professional conspiracy theorists never show any interest in the multitude of real corporate, legal and governmental conspiracies that affect our daily lives and instead prefer to chase chemtrails and 4G... but it's an example that really shouldn't apply to an entire mainstream political party.

Marco Rubio just did an interview on I24 the Israeli 24 hour news channel. He talked about the pro-palestinian protests on universities in the US. He stated that the reason for them is that the world wide left has seized control of teaching at these universities. That all these protestors believe Israel doesn't have a right to exist. That they are a part of a worldwide anti Jewish conspiracy by the left. That education at these universities has been corrupted by the radial left.

Should sell good in Israel and the MAGA base.
