Don't forget to turn the fan on and open a window. I don't want to see a post about you passing out from smoke inhalation next. >:(

Sure the buzz is good but the hangover will be awful.

My stories are much more lamer now that I dont have GFD egging me on. Missing her as we approach 4 years.

  2. I play on the 360, generally play hardcore headquarters but still need about half the stars on special ops if anyone is interested although right now my priority is to prestige ... My gamer tag is "Just Marie" ... also play to much nazi zombies in WAW.

  3. Problem with portraying skydiving realistically is a wuffo, will not understand it, you will lose them in confusion. First off the general public looks at this behavior as dangerous and it is fueled by fear of the unknown. Most people can not wrap their head around what it means , what it does to the body and how it affects the brain. Im sure people will disagree in this forum but thats cause your skydivers. A documentary might be different, and would have different expectations.

If this movie is not a documentary then you have several things to consider. Firstly, how are you going to film the movie? Not just the jump but the actual movie. Are you doing audio separate? What type of camera are you using?

If you have actual skydiving , then you have alot of tweaking (if possible) to make it a seamless transition without making it appear separate. Or lets say you go the route we did, we green screen a commercial skydiving scene , but its obvious green screen and and any skydiver who sees it will balk at the fact that the skydiver is not only holding a dog in the crook of her arm but also holding a cell phone in the other and speaking, however, the wuffos grasp it because they think its possible. Unless your movie is a doc I would suggest playing to your audience. If its a low to no budget film maybe delve more into the realistic aspects and stay true to this sport , skydivers may buy it. If its just a back story that does not take up much of the film Id say look for alternatives. If your interested in seeing the completed green screen skydiving scene email me at [email protected] and Ill send you the link. Most importantly think of your target audience, the safety of those on set, and the insurance costs of a production involving actual skydiving.

*Disclaimers to skydivers...I did nag and complain as they worked the story line I swear. I told them its not realistic, they proved to me why it doesnt need to be.

I am an AFF student, divorced w/ shared custody of my children. My ex has just filed to move out of state. So we are going back to court and I am moving for custody. I was not skydiving at the time of the original hearing. I was just curious if any of you have had this brought up as an issue (such as X parent is reckless or unstable because they skydive) and what was the outcome.

You can PM me if you would prefer.

Not a lawyer but represented myself in my custody case and won full custody. Quick and simple things to consider.

    1. Have you talked to your lawyer? Told him about your jumping?

    2. Skydiving is a dangerous sport, a wuffo feels that to an extreme...is the judge hearing your case a wuffo?

    3. If on all other grounds you and your ex are equal in the eyes of the court, I would venture to say that a wuffo judge would weigh the extreme sport and also your lack of experience.

    4. Is continuing the sport that important? If I were wanting to play it safe (which is what I did with my hearing) quit jumping until the case is over.

    5. Skydiving is an expensive sport, it is dangerous and can cause injury and death. If you have decided that this is a safe sport for you then read the incident forum , or the blue skies forum. You can do everything right and still die. Maybe the risk is worth it to you, but as a single parent are you willing to make that risk for them? You jumping out of a plane with soul custody leaves them in a much harder spot when / if you go in.

    Just my 2 cents

  5. Thanks everyone. Im the low timer on this one. Ill be jumping with one of the tandem instructors all day prior so he can determine if I get to be on the dive , lurk, or should stay on the ground. Im also good at evaluating my skills or lack there of and will not chance messing it up. There are to many people on the ground waiting to see this. He is recieving his military honors there as well.

Dive will be a missing man. I want it to not be to big as Id rather it be a small and successful ash dive versus a cluster fuck and people getting hurt. Thanks all for the help.

  7. First and foremost Ill start by saying I am not going to be personally releasing the ashes due to my skill level. As a matter a fact , if I am not confident in my jumps prior I will only lurk the dive. However Im organizing it all and want to do it right

Simple ash bag... I dont have much time to make it, will be adding flour as the ashes are being split up but need to make a simple to open one.

What else goes into planning a skydiving funeral? Ive got the people coming, the beer , the food and the people to jump but what else happens? Ive avoided going to these as I find that I never wanted to have a hobby correlate with a funeral but some times things change but I want to send LeRoy out in style.

  8. I have been hiding from his death, keeping busy with the planning of the memorials and being peoples shoulder or ear when they needed it. However that today came to a head and I cant keep putting my grief to the side. Today I finally unpacked my car from the search and recovery of his body... it wasnt a dream as I have been trying to pretend. Le Roy will be missed ... he was and will always be loved, and if you can please attend one of the following to say good bye to my friend. His ash dive will be my last skydive... I no longer will even come on here once the dive is over, if you wish to remain in contact with me add me to your face book or email me at lisamariekull@ gmail.com.

As you all know LeRoy Buckley (leroydb) passed away during his 400th BASE jump at Notch Peak last month. As per his wishes he wanted his main ash dive to take place at Raeford in N.C. However Bridge day was mentioned in his last wishes as well and so I am trying to figure out which one of you are giving him a bad ass BASE goodbye. I am unsure if Stitch and the others on the search crew can make it but they get dibs. Anyone who is already registered can you please either post here that you are available or willing to jump in his memory. Also if anyone can get Jason or someone else from Bridgeday in touch with me I would really appreciate it. My email is [email protected]. Once the bridge is done being jumped for the day join in for a toast to him. I am still unsure if I am able to make it but his girlfriend and son Jayden will be there.

Raeford N.C. Oct 23rd , approx 4 pm an ash dive is planned with a party to follow. I think the jump is full but I could use a good camera man to film it. Greenmachine has offered to edit the videos of his memorials so I want to make sure he gets some good footage to work with. I will definitely be here for this one, as well as Tiffany, Jayden and most of LeRoys family.

Please come help us put our friend, brother, father, son, and solider to rest. Thank you for your time.

I'm very sorry of the outcome Lisa Marie, this has been a very tough year to be sure.

Do you know if he died from a BASE jump or a fall, or what?

We are waiting for the body to be brought in, then Stitch and the coroner will go over the gear before its taken off his body. That way maybe the members in the base community could use the information to determine what his final moments are. I do know that it was him and he did jump everything else will take time.

you know dorkzone, the name says it all; i'm sure if you or me ever go in, there's one thing we can be certain of: people will talk shit about us.. :|

Meh not about me, most the people I know that have any real good shit to say about me already went in.

Les with SAR here will always remain a part of my family, this man went above and beyond his duty and he sat outside with us tonight for hours, hugs , words of encouragement and plenty of tears. Amazing people here

  16. All the speculation was shit, but it did give us hope that he was alive. Things changed hourly. Now he lay waiting for a basket and a heli and then they can examine his gear and hopefully something can be learned to prevent whatever it is happened.

  17. Yup we came here to bring him home, we found him and tomorrow Ill start the planning of the memorial which will be here in Delta sunday around sunset. His ash dives (yes its LeRoy he gave me a list of 7 places , fucking diva) will take place sometime later.

Us here in Delta tonight are a bit defeated and hurt and sad but we did what we came to do and for those of you who supported the SAR , thank you we are grateful and for those of you who posted shit while he hung on a ledge ...Fuck you.

  18. Theres so much that is out there, and it changes by the minute, even to those of us who are here and were on our way here. LeRoy is missing, his body nor any of his gear has been found.

  19. For updates or offers of search help , go to the basejumping forums, theres a very active thread, and this one is , as it seems a read only. Me along with LeRoys girlfriend and Uncle are heading to Utah to help with the ground search so please keep the positive thoughts and love heading his way. Were at a critical point, with every passing minute.

  21. If you call a fellow skydiver / basejumper gear then sure... either way SAR is looking for able bodied people. Anyone want the number, email or pm and you can call the dispatch and find out if you are needed

UPDATE - SAR has confirmed that right now they have sufficient volunteers for the time being but they have a list of those who are willing to help and also have the training.
