  1. I have been looking for some over the glass goggles but have not actually wore any yet that I really like. I am willing to spend up to $100 or so on goggles but have reservations on spending that much without atleast hearing some good things from an actual user of them, even if it is on a message board. The most important thing to me is function, style is semi important, but as long as they are not goofey looking or look like a pair of hardware store goggles then im pretty much happy. Has anyone tried thoes goggles with RX lenses? Id be willing to spend the xtra if they are actually worth it. I have a relatively light prescription on my glasses so I dont wanna get contacts, but jumping without my glasses does mess with my depth preseption. I tried a full face helmet but felt too restricted
  2. Bro let me tell you a story about myself. Back in fall / winter to 2000 - 2001 I was going through the IAD system. 1st jump - A blast 2nd jump - Scared the hell out of me 3rd - 7th jump - Blast 8th jump (10 second freefall) - Started out a blast, I remember enjoying teh ride up and being amped and going out on the strut well. Then I let go and all I remember is the feeling of speed and my body shifting belly to earth. I do not remember counting, I do not remember seeing anything I barely remember pulling. The jumpmaster said I did great but only fell about 5 sesonds instead of 10, but it scared the hell out of me none the less. It scared me bad enough I up and walked away from the sport untill reciently. I truely missed it, and there probably has not been a week that has gone buy between 2001 and now that I didnt regret quiting Guess what Im trying to say is I regret not sticking with it and if you do enjoy it then make sure you stick with it and learn to overcome your fears. I wish I did.
  3. Yea Aggiedave I know.. not beign sarcastic either, I honestly understand the importance of talking to instructor. I just have 50million questions running through my head and enjoy asking questions / finding out information (that is questions I honestly have and not just pulling things out of my ass) :)
  4. I have kinda been looking around for what to expect when I get my first rig and have another question. First off money plays a factor here... I refuse to go into debt so I have limited cash funds and have looked at things 2 ways. 1. complete used gear, something newer ( less then 5 years old) 2. New container / harness and cypress. 2 used canpoys. My thought with the new container / harness is that new has got to be safer due to less use and being made to fit me. That and 99.9% of the used reserves I have seen have zero jumps. And at what point ... number of jumps / age .... are alot for a used canopy / rig
  5. Aye, but in automobile seatbelts the end of the belt webbing is folded over and sewn so that it is too fat to fit throuhg the buckle. I had this thought while under canopy and just now remembered that I was gonna look / ask instructor this question
  6. Im going through the IAD method (4 jumps) and have a question. Ok this question is assumeing the gear is in good condition and fits / is adjusted properly. After your under canpoy and your body weight is being supported by the leg straps, is it possible the leg straps could begin to loosen themselves (webbing begin to slide through the adjustment hardware)? If this would happen are there any safeguards designed into rigs to prevent the straps from comeing comletely undone?
