  1. One thing that could be an issue is that the door is on the right side of the plane...are you used to jumping out of planes that have a door on the left side??? Sometimes that can through you for a loop.

Anyways, with exits, especially if you havent jumped out of that plane before...its good to practice in a similar mockup or the actual plane if you can. I recommend to my students to cheat the exit as much as physically possible. Get yourself in as much of a presented position to the relative wind as you can. That goes for floating exits, diving exits, etc. There are quite a few little tricks and theory that goes along with this...but its a bit tought to explain over the web. Its a lot easier to show you at a mock up or in person anyways.

  2. well maybe we need to start another war somewhere so we can keep him working in Washington...makes for good tv, too. ;)

Seriously, I really think that your f'd...until the whole world unites and has a coke and a smile, I dont think that 30 mile ban is going to be lifted. I wouldnt see why an AFF student wouldnt head to BP for a weekend...especially since the weather has been so bad this season...they gotta be just as itching to jump as you guys. They dont do AFF down there anymore do they??? If you get enough tandems headed down there, they are going to need work to finish them. Have chuck fire up the otter and have a couple of planes down there and have a joint DZ boogie.

  3. I am pretty sure that he has a ripcord system mounted on the hip area. They show 2 PRCPs that were quick, but seemed in the correct area. The student does go for the cutaway, and the JM goes for the ripcord...which are definately in 2 separate areas. I will have to take a closer look at it again, the video is pretty poor.

  4. Why not have Carp send you all down to Boston-Providence or Plum Island...SDNE owns em all anyways. Hook a brotha up!!! I am suprised that they havent tried to reschedule students there for those few days. Pain in the ass, yes, but I guess that working would interfere with all the offtime drinking.:)

  5. Nope, no RSL...this guy tumbled for a good 5 to 7 seconds...either that or the RSL malfunctioned. The worst part about it was the screams that FOX had dubbed over it. Awful. Damn, that network...if they didnt have the Simpsons, I dont know what I would do.

  6. Yeah, I agree that skydiving isnt for everyone, but I have had students go for the cutaway handle on a level one. I give the mainside JM credit, he tried like a motherfucker to stop him, but the student overpowered him. The mainside pulled his main and the reserveside JM flailed and totally split without even looking back. The MSJM stayed but just couldnt get to him. All around a poor performance by everybody.

  7. By the way...I actually taped it, because I happened to by the TV and I watched it again...you know what really pisses me off? They actually overdub screams of the student tumbling in freefall. Thats awful. Ah, what do you expect from FOX.

  8. Did anyone just watch that show on FOX??? Fist clip was an AFF level 1 who pulled his cutaway handle instead of his main. The ms JM pulled his handle and the reserve side JM split. The student pulled his reserve and then landed in the power lines....DAMN. Good press, huh????Bastards!!!!

  9. I will pretty much drink anything like the Beast (Milwaukees Best), PBR (Pabst), Ole Mil is nice, but I find that the cheapest and most potent 5.5% alcohol is Icehouse. You can pick up a 18 pack of barbottles down here for under 10 bucks. Now thats a deal!!! Packs a punch too. Essentially you are gettiing almost twice as much alcohol in bar bottles for about 50 cents a beer. Beats the hell out of bud cans!!!:S

  10. I showed this to my girlfriend (registered nurse) and she said that it is infected. You need to clean it with Iodine, Alcohol (not a beer) and or hydrogen peroxide and cover it with a clean/sterile dressing and sometime soon you need to go to the doctor and get antibiotics/topical antibiotics. keep your feet out of the woodchipper. If there is any generalized symptoms such as fever...go to the doctor sooner than later. Peace and please don't lick it! (that's is not proper cleaning)

    Blue skies...and black feet.:)

  11. Good point...you are going to need a helicopter to haul your ass out if you biff in on some of the remote exit points for BASE. Medical attention or lack thereof, can make the difference between life and death.

Another consideration...its not often that you get arrested for swooping. Although, it has been known to happen.;)
